Default convince me to ditch my spare!

i kinda want to make a sub box out of my spare tire well, but i am scared that the day i do it i'll get a flat tire. i know a lot of people go w/o spares but i just don't know.

in my personal opinion, i dont think that the stealth boxes are big enough to produce the sound that i am looking for...

the only way i would remove my spare is if i have a super custom sub enclosure - but i will stick with the box that i have, and if i get a flat, im not screwed.... :D

also, you have to consider where live - i live in Montana and the roads arent too great so there is a pretty good possibility for a flat...

i say take it out only if you need it (i.e. track, etc) but id rather get a normal box thats easily removable.

having a removable box is a great idea..... comes in handy

You seem like you are more show than go...so a permanent box might be fine

i am more show than go when it comes to doing performance mods but this car is my DD. i drive it everyday so ditching the spare kinda scares me.

I wouldn't, just seems stupid to me. Watch you do it thinking "ehh, what are the odds?" and the next day you go flat. That's just a ____ty situations if you don't have a spare to get you back on the road.

Why not just go for a box like mine? Or a custom box molded into the side of the trunk? I doubt you'll get the same sound performance from an upward firing box under the floor anyway as you would with the traditional style side-fire.

I Would love the JL Stealth Box, But I've had a tire blow out 5 days after I bought my car, and In the last to months I had 2 tire sensor valve stems shoot right off the wheel and gotten flats that way. I'd keep the spare. Atleast I can say i'm gettin real good at puttin the spare on!! lmao

yea idk. it's just an idea. i saw an install i really liked and was gonna steal his idea. but i would always be worrying about no having the spare. i don't like the idea of not having it at all. thats why i made the thread. if i don't ditch it and put my sub there i'll keep the box i have. i like it and it works.

If you ditch it, and have a flat, your friend can pick you up. For long trips or long drives just throw it in the back seat. (Worst case scenario) This is what I do.

yea i agree. i travel a bit sometimes for car shows. i wouldn't wanna get a flat going to one or coming back and not have the spare. and im not gonna throw my spare in the back seat to go to a car show. that just doesn't look good. lol

odds of having to use your spare... slim... if you are that worried abot it, it kind of seems pointless to start this thread...
