Keep the spare. I personally don't enjoy waiting on the side of a freeway for 30 mins + for a tow truck to come pick me up. Time is money. Cliche I know, but it is indeed true.

whatever bro, if you are that worried about not having a spare, then don't get rid of it.... it is a personal choice, no one can make it up for you... if you want to be convinced, i would say get rid of the spare and take care of your tires....

Here's the bottom line: If you have roadside assistance included in your insurance, you can do without the spare. If you don't, then keep the spare.

It's really that simple.

Just do a sub enclosure on the right of the spare and build an amp rack that drops into the center of the spare... kind of like this:

any of you tried using AAA before? I could fix 2 flats w/ 1 spare before they show up.

Always keep 2 McDonalds trays in your car... just make sure you have 2 good tires on the front and put the trays under the rear tires and go tray sliding all the way home.

I was also in the same boat of deciding to keep the spare tire or ditch it for more cubic volume for a fiberglassed box but I'm going to see what I can do to maximize box volume by glassing around the spare. I've had 2 flats, one by driving in pouring rain and hitting something so bad (at 35-40MPH) that it popped my front tire and had no idea what it was, and another time when my negative camber was so bad that it popped my rear tire on the highway. I would keep it just for the convenience of getting back on the road without waiting on someone to tow me.

I would normally get rid of my spare for weight reduction and saving some gas.

Just make sure you have membership with AAA or something you won't want to be totally stranded somewhere if you have a flat.

It all adds up... I rather have most of more weight balanced in the front anyways.

I hit a pot hole a couple of months ago and put a dent in the rim, which cause a leak. I notice the tire was low so I put some air into it. A day later the low tire light came on. I didn't think to much about it, because I put more air in the tire then the others. And the monitor reads only an unblanced tire and not the pressure. I end up driving for a weak before I took the car to discount tire of a rotation. This is when I found out that the rim was dented and the tire was burnt in the inside. I was driving for almost a week on a flat tire without even knowing it.

The tire was stock and on the rear passenger side. Discount told me that the low profile tires act like run flat tires, and thats why I never notice anything different with my car.

Here is what happened to me, i got this box built thinking of keeping my spare tire. Well right after getting the box installed i saw 2 people on the side of the road trying to get there spare tire out then i figured how the hell can i get my tire out myself, I CANT, so now i pulled the tire out and its in the back seat now. But look at my box:
