Default Cutting shifter for a Momo ****?

I got a Momo **** for Christmas and when I installed it I discovered that it sits significantly higher than the stock **** to the point where it feels like I don't have a short shifter anymore. Has anyone else had this problem?

Before:

After:

I moved the shift boot up to fill the space. Is the only solution to cut the shifter? I'm pretty disappointed with this.

People are going to say its stupid to cut the shifter.
The TRD Shifter that is metal and leather sits way up high like that too.
But since its from a Christmas present, you may just have to do some cutting, I don't think there is a real legit fix for this.

Default cutting shifters

Personally i wouldn't cut my shifter, but instead i'll replace it wit the TRD short shifter assembly; plus it comes wit the TRD shift ****!

I already have a short shifter on there, kinda sucks because this **** matches perfectly but it's so high that it doesn't feel great.

Cut it then put some new threads on the end. You can either cut it in place or remove the whole shifter cage and lever then cut.

Too much work to take out the short shifter. I'm definitely not going through that again. I guess I'll just find a different ****.

How can you re-thread the metal rod after cutting it? and DTC08 how did you put the **** back on there without having it move

it would be too short for the stock shift **** if it was cut and rethreaded, it barely fits now after the short shifter install

in case anyone doesn't know (as I didn't), the momo doesn't have threads, it just sits on top and three horizontal screws tighten it to the rod
