Default In Dash DVD Player question......

Anyone know the best way to get rid of that damn blue screen that blocks my DVD's from playing? I installed an in-dash DVD player but didn't wire to the parking brake and I want to know how to by-pass this easily. I have heard "ground the PB wire abd it will work" as well as heard "Wire the PB wire to a 12V switch and then flip when you want to watch video...." Not sure how to do that it sounds like the best option. In case I get pulled over all I do is flip the switch and no ticket......

Thanks for your help.

What cd player is it? If its a pioneer in dash dvd you need to open the cd player and solder a wire, which voids your warranty.. Your best bet is to call a lcoal stereo dealership and they should be able to tell you

It all depends on the deck..... what brand and what model... and most stereo shops won't do it, cause of liability....

Sheep... you shoulda gone CarPC... none of those hassles....

Yeah.. I wonder too..

My solution for now.. I have it wired to the E-brake, and basically pull that joker up only one click.. it doesn't engage the brake.. it just trips the relay to set the brake light which in turn allows for DVD playin.. kinda ghetto.. but.. oh well.

I have been talking to a guy at the local Car Toys who knows the deck pretty well. He was telling me that I will need a constant voltage through the wire to get it to work properly. I am going to be installing the switch tomorrow and hope it all works well. I found with just grounding the wire, it will work until the next start up but then I have to reset the deck for it to work again.

The deck is the Jensen 9510. Any ideas off the top of your head on where to get a constant 12V from? Actually, I am wondering if I just run a wire from my ground point and connect that and the PB wire to a switch if it will work. I think that is what I will do first and see. If so, I will let you all know.

Tim, thought about the carputer but passed on teh idea at the moment. I might pick it up later though. Just not sure yet.

it wouldn't be very smart to send a 12 volt signal through the park break wire. All Jensen in-dash monitors require a ground not 12 volt. you will fry something if you put 12v through it.

Yeah, I was trying the ground switch first to see if it worked and it did. So now I have a nice hidden switch incase cops decide to pull me over.

The only issue I am having now is the deck itself. I am going to actually return it to Best Buy and get a different one from Car Toys. There is one there that I like better anyways.

Thanks for the help.

Same question for a DDX-7017 unit, how do you run that wire to trick it? constant 12v? or ground? what. thanks

Well Im sure that the DDX-7015 would be the same so all I did was ground the e-brake wire with the main ground for the unit. Worked for me. Plus if you ever get pulled over just one quik push on the source button or just close the door and your straight.

Default HERE'S YOUR FIX!!!

Hey guys, i had the PIO AVHD5700DVD in my other car which i took out. I currently work at Circuit City in the Car Stereo department and we've basically mastered this with any car.

Put the wire on the parkbrake just as if your going to install it like it should be. Then get a switch (just regular old off and on switch) and install it between the parkbrake wire. Whenever this is installed, turn on the car, flip the switch off then back on. This tricks the player into thinking it is reading the constant ground just as if the parking brake is up. Everytime you go to play the a new DVD or first start up the car, just flip with switch off then back on, and wa-la.

DVD players that can be wired up to constant ground and still work is an option, but this allows for quick on and off access. All the new pioneer players cannot be wired to constant ground, they HAVE to have the switch.

This also works well if pulled over for the specific reason that the player was playing video while going down the road, just hide the switch and flip it off. This will turn the screen back to the "Driving while video playing is Illegal" screen (or w/e it is).

Good luck guys.

Hi, will this "trick" also work with the Pioneer AVH-P6800DVD unit? I just recently bought this and was wondering if this unit also has the gyro and it can be bypassed where I can play DVD's while driving (for the passengers in the back and front, of course).

in my opinion from this post...

In dash dvd players are starting to change their Video play back with the parking brake. They have a certain sequence now which is required to do in order to view any videos.

In the Dual brand, and couple other makes and models.
You have a certain order to start the video, but in order to complete this you must wire the parking brake wire to a toggle switch (Oznium sells scion tc oem switches).

It will be : Parking brake to on contact, and the other will be a wire going from the toggle switch to a ground either on the radio or somewhere in the vehicle.

Once that is wired the sequence is going to be: On, Off, On (each one is less then 1 second when turning on and off from the video switch)

I'll have a video on youtube shortly to show how this process works.

When my friend and I installed an Alpine IVA-W200 into my TC we used a PAC TR-7 universal trigger module, may or may not work for you, I know the alpine had some stupid sequence of things to make it play video, pump the brake, raise then drop ebrake, flash your highs, spin in a circle, or something like that anyway,
the trigger module worked great for me, fwiw

haha I just have it grounded. i have the panasonic unit. I also have a card reader going through one of the AV ports with a picture of a generic google map.

I got pulled over once at 2 am, and i was playing a movie. before the officer came to my window, I switched over to the generic google map, so when the officer asked what was playing on the screen, I told him it was the GPS. He then questioned me why nothing was moving, and like an a$$hole, I told him it was because I was parked.

he let me go of course. lol
