Default defective sub ??

Hey everyone, I made an mp3 disc and was listening to it, and i wanted to adjust the gain on my subwoofer a little, so when i removed the speaker grill....I noticed a small slit in the subwoofer top left rubber part. Could it be that it came defected from mcgeorge but i never noticed? I installed the subwoofer myself and it sat untouched in my apartment until i screwed it on in the end. I just want to ask if anyone ever got a defected subwoofer from mcgeorge, and would this affect the sound in any way? You guys think i'd be able to just return the driver since i already have the box mounted? Thanks.

Moved to ICE...

Didn't get my sub from mcgeorge but, if yours has an actual hole through it (all of the way through the cone), then yes, it will affect the sound.

i went to alldata and i think there is a technical service bulletin for this, which i think can be brought to the dealer and fixed for free as long as you have the TSB

I'd like to follow that up with a

That's kinda odd. Oh, we know we make subs with holes, here's a new one.

If they don't replace/repair it for you, a dab of silicone should do the trick.

That doesn't make sense at all, its obviousely damaged and not just a design error or flaw. I'll try to patch it up with some silicon if mcgeorge doesn't agree to replace the driver alone. Thanks for the replies everyone!
