Does the tC have a cabin air filter?
I was talking to the people at Toyoata (service dept) and they told me all toyota cars have cabin air filters.
But I cant find any reference to it in the owners manual.
Since this car isn't, strictly speaking, a "Toyota", could the service people be mistaken?

No. Your car does not have one in it. You can buy one from the Parts Dept. but it is expensive and not worth it. Go to any hardware place and buy any air filter and cut it(around 1.5-1" thick)...pull out your glove box...pull out the white tray....place in filter....put tray back in...put glove box back in...turn on A/C and smell the crisp, clean smell of clean, cheap air.

MOST newer toyotas have them, but they all dont have one
It's just missing from the tray.
Now that is really bogus of Toyota.
Build a system with a place for a filter but don't put the filter in the place.
Kind of like not getting a bulb with your headlight assembly.
But people would notice that. This one gets by under the radar.
It's easy to get to and easy to find and easy to put in.
So now I don't have to clean up all those little bits of stuff that get picked up driving around and turn my cabin into some kind of vacuum cleaner bag.
kewl
Thanks RoswellScion for the tip.

You're welcome. I still have a large sheet in my garage waiting to be cut and replace the filter. The entire sheet cost me right at $3, and it should last me a year or two(changing every few months or sooner if necessary).
Rick, this topic has been discussed at length.
here's a link to some similar concerns as yours from "search":

and gcxandy linked the DIY to install a filter if you'd like.
i'm going to move this to the tC ice and interior forum.

that is why i made mine from a product called "web absorber" which can be found in the above link. "web absorber" is not restrictive and is available at home depot.

in fact, darren made "how to install a cabin air filter" a tech article on 7/21/04:

we have been discussing this topic, including concerns and fixes for a very long time. search is our friend.
