Default Dome lights stay on when set to "door"

For some reason my dome lights have been staying on when they are set to "door" and i lock the car. I noticed this a couple days ago and don't know why it's happening. Anyone have this same problem?? Thanks in advance for your help!

It's a pretty simple circuit. My guess is the door switch has failed or is not working as intended. I'd start there.

Im not really sure how or why the lights get hot but if i leave it off for a day or so, then set them to "door" they work fine but for some reason after a while they get hot and stay on....

Is your door ajar light constantly or intermittently on? Are the lights getting hot after staying on for a long time? Because obviously that's normal.

Well of course If they're constantly on the lights will get hot, if you read my post correctly i said that with the dome lights setting to door, meaning they should only come on when the door is ajar, they stay on constantly as if i set them to the on setting ... With the car locked and lights set to door they will still stay on as if a door or hatch wasnt closed right or if i set them to the on setting... I haven't had a chance to look into it but hopefully i can get some free time tomorrow to check it out

If you read my post correctly, I'm referring to the door ajar warning light in your cluster panel and not your dome light.

This comment below is what's misleading...it doesn't happen when the light gets hot, the lens gets hot because it happens.

That light isn't on when the issue is happening. That warning light on the cluster is working fine.

Like in the post above, does the door ajar light come on when the doors are open?

I'd say you are due for a door switch.

Yes rockauto.com carries them. Search for a door jamb switch.

Life saver I ordered the part... do you think it's hard to replace?
