Default E Brake Light Problem

Alright heres the deal when ever i hit the gas in my tc not hard but about half throttle (also does it at full throttle) the E Brake light comes on and when i let go of the gas the light goes off. I live on long island and its cold so i dont know if thats the reason because i just started noticing it. Its like when the car is thrown back really fast the light comes on. Anyone have this problem?

Check your brake fluid level. 9/10 times it's low. Also try the search button our your vehicle manual.

i changed my brake pads and it went away. and the brake light would only go on if it was cold. theres threads on SL that talks about this. i suggest check your front brake pads. low brake pads = more brake fluid going to them.

If your fluid level is good, then it could be a number of different things. I know a member on here had that happen once, and it was a pinched e brake cable

First thing, it is not an ebrake light. It is just a brake light. It can be triggered by the ebrake being pulled, an issue with the brake system or low fluid (Which can be caused by worn pads as well). If it is low, check your pads. If they are worn badly, DONT add fluid. When you put the new pads on, you will end up with a brake fluid mess if you do unless you suck some back out. And anyone that has seen what brake fluid does to painted metal will not want it dumping out of the resevoir. If the fluid is low and the pads arent worn, find the leak, because that is the only other way you are losing fluid (And possibly one reason the light is on if pressures are off between lines).

In this case, if the fluid is not low, then first play around with the ebrake. Sitting still, wiggle it a bit and see if the light comes on. It can be the sensor that triggers when it is pulled.
