2nd, I STILL can use the steering wheel audio control (will ask the guy who installed how he did it).
3rd, I can run the nav and watch dvd's at the same time (w/ external DVD player as you said, just plug it in the RCA), plus I still have the rear camera input free (add it on later for $189 shipped, cheaper than the Pioneer for sure).

For the DVD on-the-go part, just ground the freaking wire, instead of the handbrake wire.
I only paid $1030 shipped for my Pioneer unit. You may like the Eclipse unit, but you are still stuck with the generic looking maps and corny looking menus that the Eclipse unit has. To me the Pioneer unti sounds alot better sound quality wise. Also the Pioneer has the Nav Traffic unit that you can add to get up to the moment traffic on your headunit. Can the Eclipse 2454 do that? The answer is NO. I have them both still and I will not go back to the Eclipse unit for anything in the world. Pioneer D1 rules.

Nav Traffic only works if you subscribe to XM for $12.95 a month and someone actually calls in to Caltran ( in CA, I don't know what it is in PA) and reports a traffic incident, otherwise it's useless. Yes, the map is not 3D but do you pay attention to the road or to the screen when you drive ??

Let's compare some of audio enhancement specs on both unit.

Pioneer D1:
3 band EQ,
EQ-EX
Loudness 3 Mode

Eclipse AVN2454:
Digtal Signal Processor : with 5-mode soundfield control
9-band EQ with 5 presets
Loudness
Listening position selector

I'm just going to leave it at that.

"1 - do u have to pay for the navy?....heard it from someone so i thought id ask....."

Yes, anybody who lives in this country legally pays for the Navy...

But you also pay for the "NAVI" it's all in your taxes... who else puts those wonderfull 27 satelites in orbit?

Got it for $999.99 + tax at AUTOBACS, $100 for installation (3 years warranty)

Eclipse is the best, no mod required, use your stock harness, plug and play.
If you have 06 model, you won't lose the audio controlled steering wheel

I just bought one from superautobacs. My question is how hard is the install? Is there a DIY? I have a 07 HU, so will I be able to use the stock harness and retain my steering wheel control? I want to save $80 on intstall by doing it myself.
