I have been trying to install my HU for a couple of days now. The unit had powered up and let me nagivate some menus a bit. After doing some re-wiring, I plugged it back in just to hear a loud pop coming from my speakers. I tried disconnecting the amp control cable to see if it was the amp or the HU, and the unit still doesnt power on.

Before, the 5500 used to light the buttons with the green light. Now it doesnt do much. The fan doesnt spin and nothing seems to be going on. Im going to keep checking the fuses in the engine compartment and underneath the steering column, but no luck so far.

Any input would be real helpful. I just hope i didnt burn the unit out somehow.

 

I have checked the fuses and it seems theres no damage. Ill use a tester hoping theres a blown fuse that went by me. I checked twice and no go.. Ill see what I can do.

****Update******

Checked all fuses in the engine and below steering column and the tester shows all are good. Im going to plug in the old head unit to see if i have a defective head unit.

 

OK. Ive been doing more researching and Ive been told the parking break should be grounded in case the unit doesnt power on. I plugged in my old stock radio and it seems to work fine. Wish me luck!
