Default Eclipse HU upgrade for TC, Review

First off, this is a great site. I am getting so much information that I will be on this site for a long time. Sadly, I cant find any info on the Eclipse cd/reciever upgrade (the one for $422.00, not the really expensive AV one). If anyone knows what model number it is, or if it is compatible with the steering wheel controls, please let me know. It is offered by SCION dealer, so I am hoping that it will be steering wheel compatible. BTW, Eclipse is an awesome brand from what I have heard.....and definitly worth the upgrade from my pioneer/ipod for 265.

Thanks in advance...great community here.

My Eclipse deck is the CD8455. It retails for ~$600 depending on where you get it. It is supposed to work with the steering wheel controls, but as I don't have them, I can't verify that directly.

As far as I know, there's no dealer-offered Eclipse for our Scions. Your particular dealer may have one, but that's them that's selling it to you, not Toyota. In some Toyotas, however, Eclipse decks come standard, but they are stamped Toyota, so you'd never know the difference.

And as for Eclipse quality, you just can't beat it. Check out their website at www.eclipse-web.com and have a look at some of the products they have available.

Hey krem....the dealer is getting back to me with the model #, I'll let you know what it is. Its $422 from them, so i doubt its the same as the Eclipse deck you have. Maybe it is, who knows though! Im just hoping it will work with the steering controls...if not, i'll just have to keep the pioneer w/Ipod compatibility and use something to make rca jacks for my sound system being put in. Oh well.

BTW, the dealer offering it is camelback scion in Phoenix.

The website is www.camelbackscion.com, then check under accessories for the extensive list of options they offer...its huge.

Eclipse is awesome. I have full eclipse audio in my truck. Will go the same way in the tC. There's a dealer in Madison, WI who installs Eclipse equipment, the dealer is John Lancaster Scion.
I almost bought a tC RS1 5-speed from there, but deal fell through and I got my FM 5spd instead.

Check out their accessories, and aftermarket pricing. They even have a leather seating option with heaters! (Model numbers are there too.)

My g/f has that in her Oldsmobile, and it is a nice deck. I don't like how Eclipse is making HU's that are flashier and more colorful. I'm happy with my 1 color Eclipse 8443 in my truck.

Well, I put in my Eclipse w/ my stock speakers for a day.

Doesn't really help the speakers out that much, still aren't that good. I'd really suggest upgrading your speakers as well.

My car has stock speakers plus the 8455. While I'll agree with mandos that the sound isn't anywhere near audiophile quality, it's a good bit better than stock.

My plan to upgrade the audio system in my car is CD Deck, then sound deadening, then speakers, then sub and amp.

Yes...sorry for making it seem like there was no improvement, definitely sounded better than stock, but I haven't had stock since...umm...uhhh...I honestly can't remember

Had to get my 6500s in the day after the Eclipse

How much can I expect to pay to replace my STOCK speakers? Im already going to be spending approximately 1,000 on sub and amp (Planet Audio), How much for the regular stock speaker replacements? Btw, the 1000 dollars is covering a Planet Audio 600 watt amp, 150 watt amp (to push the stock speakers) and then 399.00 for my 12" and box.........any ideas, advice, ??
