Default eD sq10 sub vs. other shallow subs

Well, it's winter break, and I finally got off my butt and decided to do something productive besides going to work. I'm building a sub box close to the elemental design has for the tc. I would love to fiber glass, but that's too much work and it's too cold outside.

This is the plan.
(1) 10" sub. original 2 but you can't fit two if you're using mdf.

Question is, how good is the eD sq10 sub compare to others that cost 2x more. I've read a few reviews awhile back on here but I can't find the reviews now. Will it sound just as good as my Kicker C10? I wish I could actually hear it first.

I'm going to running the subs with the alpine mrp-m450.

this is the thing. the other brands that make the shallow sub (kicker does and pioneer does) as i've heard are much louder but don't have nearly the sound quality and the flat response that the eD sub can provide. its up to what you want. Its not going to be as loud as your c10 but i think it should sound better.

i have the sq10....it's ok i give it like a 6.5/10. Once you start going to higher volumes it will give out. I will eventually switch to a different shallow mount. hope this helps!

my take on the sq10 is that its decent, just enough for that lil extra bass in ur car and not be heard from miles away. i currently have golden86's old setup/enclosure: [link]

^^^ That's the setup I'm going with. So I'll see how it sounds in a few weeks after I finish building the enclosure.

like stated above...a single SQ10 isn't nearly loud enough...but it will have much better SQ than the Kicker....i've found that a good compromise is the Pioneer shallow-mount sub.

if your really concerned with output or even SQ at a decent volume i wouldn't suggest a single ten in such a small enclosure. it won't have much output.

a single ten can be plenty(i run a single ten) but i just can't imagine that sub and a box that small doing much, especially after having the cardboard and trunk liner laying on top of it.
