Ok. I live in Pasadena, California and I need to buy an extended warranty on my tc. I've decided that I want the platnium plan for 7 years/100,000 miles. The only problem is that I don't know how much is too much to pay for this warranty. I've seen list prices on Scion dealer websites anywhere from $1,275 and up to $1,995---apples for apples. HOW MUCH SHOULD I NEGOTIATE TO PAY? DOES ANYONE KNOW EXACTLY WHAT A DEALER PAYS TOYOTA FOR THIS WARRANTY? I KNOW THAT IT IS A HIGH PROFIT ADD-ON AND SO DEALERS WILL RIP YOU OFF IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT'S A DECENT PRICE.

ANYONE IN MY AREA (PASADENA) BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HOW MUCH?

I dont think so. Most cars last atleast 150ish k before stuff starts to mess up (trans/eng) Most last longer than that with no problems.

I dont think even the $1200 is a good deal
You will pay intrest on that $1200 also. And if you dont use your warranty you will be out that money plus intrest.

 

if i'm not mistaken with the scion warrenty when i bought my 08
if you dont use it they give it back to you in full AFTER the end of the warrenty period.
I, however, STILL dont think its worth it. Toyotas are KNOWN for lasting. People by them because they want a car that they know will last and wont need to be fixed every 5000 miles. If your looking for a reason to use your warrenty, or have one. Get a VW.

lots of people have had things liek sunroofs and random crap malfunctioning that would cost a pretty penny.

ex my brothers window stopped working, they want 1200$ to fix it!! its a 2003 matrix with 36k!

long warrentys are WELL worth the grand or whatever you paid..

my other friend had to get his entire electrical system replaced in his brand new element..

other friends 2004 bmw has been in the shop every month it seems!
