Exterior Lighting.
Im putting this in the ICE & Interior thread, because i see it as ICE. But anyways.
Has anyone installed lighting (LED's) on the bottom side of the mirror to give exterior lighting at night? You see it on BMW's and Mercedes all the time, and it seems to serve a functionality. I think it would be a nice touch also.

If your asking about putting lights on your mirror, I would have to recomend against it. You might have issues with the po-po if their blue or red. Just make sure you can't see it from the outside of the car.
Im talking about lights on the bottom side of the mirror, and that only light up when you open the door/unlock the car to enter it. You wouldnt see them unless you get down and look at the bottom side of the mirror.
Ok, I know that in my state.....mass, that the law says that if you can see the lights from ANYWHERE outside of the car.....their illegal. I don't like the law, but whatever. In any case, I think it would be pretty easy. Do you have the optional auto-dimming mirror, or the regular, plain old, normal peoples mirror like I do?
dude this would be real easy to do, dont go spend all taht money on puddle lights, just go buy some decent white superflux led's and drill holes evenly spaced and put like 5-10 in there.. i thought about doing this as well in my old car.. i think it would be sweet.. plus, if you used led's, you wouldnt have to see the actual led.. as the hole would be hidden.. i say do it.. it would be pimp.. and you could just follow the wires from the blinker.. hell, you would onlyprolly need to get the power wire in there from the dome light and use the blinker ground as i prolly switches the + wire for on off.. the ground is most likely just ground and an led dosent draw jack for current.. or you could do something simular and drill holes in the bottom of the door panel, and put led's in there.. taht would give you more ground coverage and look pimp as well. or do both, as well as white 48" led underbodies on each side under the car... man, it makes me want to go nuts again...
$40 for somthing you can do for $5? and that car posted above w/ the "spot" light crap is just that.. i dunno what world you live in but making your own is more rewarding and not as lazy.. oh and cheaper... plus, you could build them w/ nice superflux led's not crappy elcheapo 5mm's that come in them.. but i guess your right.. your way is so much more econimical..
You'd have to get them to turn on when u open a door, and when u unlock the car, fade out when u close the door.
wiring, leds, making a housing for it. Tools, figuring out how your going to tap into the fuse. If your gonna wanna make it secure, drilling into the mirror housing/trying to make it flush.

Second lazy and not rewarding? This install took time and effort to make it look the way I wanted, and when it was all done I felt pretty fulfilled.
And finally not all of us are "Magyvers" that can whip up a fancy "super" light show using just a bobbie pin a stick of gum and some **** lube.
So until you plan on doing a step by step how to make your 5 Dollar kit, don't bash on anybody else.
hey chode, you listen here.... it takes a match and a gluestick.. but yes, **** lube is a must..
im just saying, for underglow, i think eveness is better looking.. thats why i wasnt fond of it.. you can get a white full underbody kit w/ remotes and crap on ebay for under $70... so you get mad coverage.. plus, for the area he's talkin about.. youd see the puck.... if you drilled them into the housing, you wouldnt see a damn thing.. i like the stealthness...
