Has anyone triedto install a factory aux/ipod in the center console? I picked one up on eBay really cheap, so if anyone advice let me know...

Here you go.

My advice:
1. Check your headunit to make sure it supports the iPod. Unless you are 110% sure it has the iPod connector in the back you need to physically inspect the back of the headunit to be sure. The plug you're looking for is located at the bottom left corner in the picture below.
2. Make sure the prewiring exists. I think only starting with '06 or '07 did the standard harness include the cable section that ran from the handbrake to the headunit. In the empty space behind your headunit you should find a spare connector as illustrated in the link.

Did you read the link? This is what I get for answering things that could be found on searches.
1. I only know about being able to do this '06 and up.
2. you'll have to pull the dash to check for the following:
a. A 4th extra unused plug behind the radio that fits the headunit or similar I posted earlier. This is the iPod cable that comes prewired starting '06 to the best of my knowledge

b. the other end of the ipod cable right by the shifter cage

FWIW there's three segments to the cable.
1. the one listed above. that runs from the shifter to the back of the headunit
2. one that goes from the connector by the shifter to the knockout in the armrest compartment PT546-210621
3. the final segment from the compartment to your ipod. PT546-21062
You need to check under the console to see if you have the first segment. Otherwise off to the parts yard you go
