fixed one thing, messed up another 6
sooooooo it all starts with me tuning my new subwoofer. I was pulling the amp out, and the remote wire hits a piece of metal where there is wire showing, and blows a fuse. So I put everything away, drive 20 minutes out to pepboys, spend 10 minutes trying to find the fuse that blew, checking many different ones that related to the stereo. So I find the one that is blown, go in and buy new fuses, replace it, yada yada yada. Then my crimp spades come off the wires near the amplifier, so i have to drive to best buy to get new 8 awg crimp spades because no one in the world carries anything below 12 - 10 awg crimp spades. I buy the spades, go to my car, and notice that my lights did not shut off when i opened the door after the car turned off, which is weird since it always does shut off. So I open the door, turn off my lights, hook everything back up at my amplifier, and put things back where they belong.
Then everything went wrong. As i was driving home, I noticed that I had my e-brake light on, even though it was not pulled up, my ABS light was on, and the tire pressure light was on. So i get annoyed cause its just another thing to fix. A couple minutes later down the road, i look at my speedometer, and the needle said I was going 0mph. Which is clearly not right cause i am moving. So that made things worse. Then I go park, and my lights of course, will not turn off when i turn off the car and open the door, and my windows will not go up automatically unless the car is on.
So i don't really know what to do lol. I suppose i will just take it over to scion tomorrow and see what they can do. Maybe it will fix itself tomorrow which is often what happens after some time, but i doubt it. Anyone else have an idea whats goin on?

sounds like your car turned into windows vista? try removing the negative terminal from the battery and leave it off for 20secs or so, bolt it back on and hopefully it should reset the ECU.

holy crap sounds like something is blown or shorted out...did you try to reset the battery......i know when i installed my new side mirroes i was doing the wiriing and accidentally one of the wires hit a piece of metal and it shorted out a fuse which lead to the signal lights the stop lights...the head lights and bascually any light that comes on stop working....then i realize it was a blown fuse i replace it and everything worked..now in your car it maybe be and electric problem or something out i would have it check out cause something is wrong
disconnect the battery......let sit for afew minutes......and please in the future when you do stuff to a 12v powered item on any car in the future disconnect the battery first then work on car........12v items tend to fry a lot of fuses and other stuff when worked on live.
alright well the scion dealership was closed by the time i got there today, so i couldn't get help from them. But i tried to reset my ECU which didn't do anything. Now my sunroof does not open, my automatic windows don't work at all, and the only way i can get my windows down is by pulling the switch all the way up on either door.
Should i check all the fuses?
Should i check all the fuses?
the windows and sunroof wont work right because you unplugged the battery, they just need to be reset. as for the other issues.....you done effed it up. good luck trying to fix it
the power windows and sunroof isnt goona work after you reset the ECu..gotta reset everything again..
as far as everything else recheck the fuses....no one can really pinpoint the problem we can only go based on your info..
gotta have the dealer look at it but be careful they might talk BS to you and might rip you off

can you take it to an autozone or someplace that can hook up to the odb2 plug to check for codes. do you know of someone who owns a scangauge2?
that will help us a lot once we know what codes you are throwing.

sounds like you blew a accessory fuse... if all those dummy lights are on, and the gauges don't work that means theres no power... i would go through all your fuses under the hood... that's what it sounds like to me...
i had a prob like that a while back when the remote start satellite on my alarm went bad and wasn't shooting out power from the brain during remote start...

definitely I would say you have an ACC fuse blown somewhere.
Always remember to unplug ur negative batt terminal anytime you do work like this and please make sure use good connectors and make sure all bare wires are covered up

well tweetertc was right... there's no power.
I took it to pepboys and had them check the voltages, and my battery was almost becauseeeeeeeeee
MY ALTERNATOR IS DEAD!!!!!!! YAYYYYY!!!!
he charged my battery enough for me so i could get back to school and hopefully over to scion tomorrow to have it replaced.
wasn't really expecting that to be the cause and hopefully it is under warranty cause i'm not looking to spend 400 dollars on an alternator.
and he also recommend i get a cap for my amp. about a 2 farad. Does that sound good?
my remote wire is covered with electrical tape for now, i will redo all the wiring this summer with a better amp.
and ya i think from now on i will take the negative terminal off the battery lol
thanks for everyone's help and hopefully i can get it fixed tomorrow.
