Default Forced floor mat option?

I got my car couple nights ago. I didn't notice at the time that it had floor mats in it and it's added onto the car price. Floor mats were never on my option list and I was never told carpet will be included.

Now the problems is I already have floor mats (along with other accessoires I bought/my friends sent me from online stores). I call the dealer but they wouldn't take it back for refund nor exchange for something else.

Any suggestions...? should I talk to a manager?

make them get you your order list and if its not what you ordered they should take it back. if not you can just try to sell the floor mats here you might lose out on some money back it wont be a total lost

if you sell the cargo mat let me know. i might know someone who would want that

that is a bad sales manager if he does not try to help you out. if it takes to much time it might be more trouble than it is worth. When you break it down your looking at an extra 2-3 dollars per month.

talked to a manager and he said he'd look into this and call me back.

Yeah, I just want a quick and fair solution. if they are not willing to do anything then I'll try to sell the extra set on ebay, or any interested posters here. but it's just a silly way to loss $50 or whatever money from selling the extra set myself.

they called me back, saying they can't take the floor mats back but will give me a $50 gift certificate. I guess I'll just have to sell the extra set I have and eat the lost. Even with the $50 certificate I am still looking at lossing money b/c the price differences, shipping, tax etc. but it's gonna be very little I hope.

If anyone is interested in buying them please check my post in classifieds section. thanks!

i was kinda intereted in the floor mats, but when i saw them in person today, it didn't look very heavy duty as i thought it would.

Xonic, if you ask me, i won't settle. if i didn't order it and i don't want it, i'm not paying PERIOD. i will fight to the end. it's not fair to loose my money b/c of their mistake. either write me a check for the amount charged or take the product back w/ refunded price. i know dealers is great at giving customers the run around, but i hate settling for their advantage. but if you got floor mats w/ cargo mat for under 100 after the gift certificate, than that would be a decent deal. although your still paying for something you didn't want

Careful... if you financed your car you get a $50 gift card (sent in mail)... if you get 2 your all set... if you get one, you got stiffed. If you are told you will get a card by him for the mats he should hand you one... not mail it.

you should be able to get your money back...but in the long run it might not be worth it. Alittle heartache is worth having a happy dealer...if you plan on using them for service.

I would call a few dealers and tell them your issue. I am sure if the mats are brand new, no damage, I am sure a nice manager would love to keep you happy and take them in, or trade you for an accessory you wanted through Scion???

thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I am going back to the dealer this afternoon. Found some minor scratches on top of the center part of the steering wheel. I thought it was just dirty but after wipping it turned out to be minor scratches.

3 small scratches, not deep but it's just annoying since they are obvious and it's right under the gauges area, where I look at a lot when driving, it's right in my face kinda...

I'll see what they can do about this...

Man everyone thinks dealers our trying to mess with you.

Look the car makes like 800 profit its hard to make a customer happy with that little room. Things like the steering wheel issue are cool to get the dealer to fix. But you bought the car with floor mats didn't you look everything over? Not to be mean but this sounds like your fault why would the dealer have to worry about it?

When you buy a car ALWAYS look at the window sticker. That lists all the added options. If floor mats are on the list it is VARY hard for a dealer to take them off. Laws and crap kinda get in the way.

There were paper covering the floor when I picked up the car, the paper floor cover commonly seen when going to a mechanic shop. Probably they put it in to protect the floor when installing the alarm. I didn't pick up the cover to check underneath it when I was there.

The floor mats option was listed on the sicker. But the car sticker was taken off, folded in half and put into the glove box before I saw the car. I didn't see the sticker and the floor mat option listed on there until the next day. I was given a dealer signed paper with the list of options they installed for and floor mats wasn't one of them.

Anyway, I went back to the dealer today. The manager asked me to go back during a weekday to have the steering wheel scratches fixed. And he would ask the parts department manager to see if they could take the carpets back for store credit.

I am not saying the dealer was messing with me, but they did put in the floor mats without me ordering, and didn't let me know. Likely a honest mistake, but it's indeed their mistake. Seems like they are working with me to resolve it. So far everything is cool and professional on both the dealer part and my side.

You also have to think about it this way, If you financed the car with that amount for the floormats they can't just pay you back for the difference. You still accumulate interest over that time on that amount that was financed, therefore if they just paid you what they were worth, you would still be taking a loss over the term of the loan.
