Default gaps around head unit.

I'm sure this a common problem, but I have yet to find an answer to it.

I just installed a new double din dvd player in my 05.

It loooks great except there are massive gaps around the head unit, the scion "door" won't cover the head unit. I can't find panels to fill these gaps anywhere online.

does anyone have ideas? I suppose I can put back in the scion cover, but it won't be able to close and I will still have gaps on the side... Every picture I have seen people have the gaps still. Do you just deal with those ugly gaps?

Thanks.

i think this has been covered many times before. . .
please use search..

you can always make a cover for your deck since your door wont close, or you can use abs to fill the gaps.

If you need a double din kit, I sell them. The kits I have are very easy to install, and have a very clean look.

Send me a PM or e-mail me at whiteblazer01@***.net. I have lots in stock. :D

I have that kit, it doesn't work because it sits about 1/2 an inch back in the dash, it's not flush against the front, and it doesn't address the origanl post. The massive gap at the top. I put the scion cover back in, but as posted earlier it doesn't close. I'll fabricate something for it.

You must have a different kit. The one's I have sit flush and are contoured to the opening, so it is a clean look. I'll see if I can get some clear day pics for you.

Here are some pics of my kits that I sell. Like I said, they are very easy to install, and are flush mounted.

Don't mind the quality of the pictures. I had to modify the brightness and contrast to show the detail on the kits. (you can click on the image to see the original picture in a full size image).

Contact me to buy these double din kits.

I was about to post the same as WhiteBlazer. I have a Z1 as well, and the METRA 95-8202 kit. Very easy to install, and looks factory.

As for the door, I found that if you press on the lower right-hand corner, it shuts just fine. Don't press the center when closing it. This is for a AVIC-Z1, so you may have to press the lower left-hand corner.

I think it has to do with JVC Head unit. It sticks out about an 1/8th of an inch more than the other units.. I have the metra kit, but maybe I have to bolted on wrong, regardless, I have put the cover back in and it closes, but not all the way. Next time it warms up here in Chicago I'll take a closer look at everything. ;).

Could you take a pic of the install? Take a pic of how you bolted the brackets on, and what it looks like installed.

My e-commerce site is still in the works. I'm hoping to have it up and running by the end of the month.

If you want to buy it, just send me a PM/e-mail (WhiteBlazer010@***.net).
