Default Gauge Cluster Swap?

Ok i went to the search and couldnt find swat....I kinda remember reading through this before though in one of the LED threads, but I just checked like ummm 60 of them and couldnt find the answer still...

If my friend has a Gauge cluster thats already had the LED sway...hes got say 30k on his cluster, and i have like 36k...if I swap them, it will still function perfectly correct? I know the ODO will be off but thats ok, Ill just make sure to keep the old one, and write down the miles....

Also...if I have a manual, does it matter if he has a manual or auto?

thanks in advance..

It should work but like you say, the odo will be off. As far as the shift indicator, you should have a problem. It'll just show that you're in "P" while you drive.

To answer this question, no, it doesn't matter about auto gauges or Manual gauges. If you put auto gauges into a manual, the shifter light will not even light up. It will work exactly like your Manual. And remember, the miles are stored on the Gauge cluster, so yeah. Write down the miles you put on it during the time you have them pulled out! (or you could just forget about those miles and say they never happened.... )
