Default Gauging interest in interior led lighting....

I have built some prototypes for led interior lighting. They are insane bright. Just 6 of the leds strung together makes a 12" cathode look boring and dim. Just 3 of them strung together equals the light output of a 12" cathode / is brighter than a 12" cold cathode. I use superflux leds in the design which are very high quality and have an amazing lifespan. I have 3 models I am testing on the bench and will continue to test for another week of solid use overdriven at 14.6V "scions run 13.8V running and 12V with ignition off" For testing I am overdriving the crud out of these babies to insure I have a reliable product. I have already tested on the bench over a week straight. If I am to build these, they will be rock solid and carry a 1 year no hassle exchange warranty if you have an issue "barring physical damage" as I have that much confidence in them. Let me know if you guys are interested....

Key points of why I am building my own light assemblies
- Superflux is equal in brightness to a w6led superbright led model used in most dome light conversions. "just using as a comparison as I do not have bulbs ready yet" Also are infinitely more reliable as I have found over a long span of time a fair failure rate in white w6led model led bulbs "reason I stopped carrying them"

- Cathodes never seem to match exactly in color when lengths are changed. This sucks when building a show car and everything has to be perfect. The led lights I am building are an exact color match in any length.

- I can power approximately 30+ superflux leds with the power drawn by just 1 cathode transformer. This means you can have your car on and glowing at shows for hours longer than cold cathode setups.

- No stupid bulky ac transformer to mount close to the cathode tubes.

- My design makes it possible to flex the string of leds to form around shapes or objects.

These are NOT for sale yet, I want to continue testing to insure a perfect product. Let me know what you guys think!

your price on the individual ones will have to come down a tad to compete-

Thanks for the info. They are selling theres for $3.69ea unless you buy 10 or more, then they are $3.29. I already beat them by 19 cents each on small orders and am happy to sell them for $3.00 each on qty's larger than 10. I think this is more than fair

I'm thinking of under-dash lighting (blue, of course), just let me know how everything turns out.

Will do, so far so good. I have some really unique ideas to make install simple, fast, hidden and reliable. Going to work hard to develope these ideas and apply for some patents. I think the end result you guys will LOVE!

hmmm any chance of making an array of superfluxes for dome/map/hatch lights>? mine arent bright enough to see anything. I always have to turn on my footwell cathodes.

I have allot on paper... And yes, a dome light set that is affordable / provides enough light to read without issues is in the works

Affordable and bright is what I'm looking for. I'm in for the dome and maps if they are indeed affordable and bright.

Oh it is! Also update on testing! 11 days and counting of solid use. 0 issues except I had two 3mm cheapy leds that a customer sent in die within 12 hours of use each But the good news, all the superflux are flawless! I have all colors on the board setup as single leds, and in series of 3. Next testing, they are going into the oven for a day or two being overdriven at 170F. If they can pass that test :as cars in arizona reach 160+F on the interior in direct sunlight" then I will start production. Just have to make sure I have a reliable product!

Thanks man. You will dig the designs. They are time consuming to make but man they are worth it install wise.

red light + blue light = magenta..

you're thinking pigments... which are completely different...

like... mixing green and red light? gives you yellow...

Yes it does turn out a magenta that way as they leds are rather focused light, that and even right next to eachother you would get blueish red hot spots.... You can however take a blue led and use a red filter and make a nice purple, but is not super bright.... You can also use a hyper white and then use purple translucent vinyl to make the color... But I have to work on those projects seperate as the basic colors are number 1 right now "red, white, blue and green"

Damnit, and I just redid my interior lighting with some cathodes

But if I see pics, they rock, and they're priced great, I'll be all over it.
