There is a gas shock sort of that eases the door down. I found mine down in the kick panel in front of the ECU. The tab that it pivots on looks like it broken. Time for a dealership run.

mine did the exact same thing. pretty much what gambit said. the little pressure thing came unhooked from the glove box. i just snapped it back on. but on my old tc, it actually broke. pop the sides of the glove box out so that it comes down and you should be able to see it.

wow.. mine has NEVER opened slow, opens just like every other car, you drop it, it drops open. did they do something different in the 06 or something? The one I test drove didnt open slow like it had a damper on it either. I cant even see where one would go on mine

you were exactly right i saw that the little pressure thing was unhooked from the glove box, the way it was set up, there really is nothing that would keep it in place. If the car shakes too much it will slide right off, so i rigged it up with some tape to keep it on there, i don't like riggin' up things but that's not something anybody can see so.... thanks for your help!

well my glove box broke. the tab on the side of the glove box where the plastic gas shock snaps into broke. does this mean they have to replace the entire glove box?

i'm not quite sure if they would have to replace the entire box, but i would definitely take it to the dealership and have them check it out, wear-n-tear should cover that i believe.....

well, here's a picture i took with my phone

it looks like half of the tab broke, and unless there is a screw attaching that tab to the glove box which would make it easy to replace, it looks like they might have to replace the whole thing? *shrug* has this happened to anyone? i guess i'll unhinge the glove box when i have a minute to check it out better.

uhh.. i can't see that tab breaking unless someone did something to it. there's no way "wear and tear" could be the cause.

unless you can find that little piece that broke off and glue it back on.. i think you're going to have to buy a new one.

the "shock" is detachable. one unhooks it to install a filter. did you install a filter and accidentally break it?

you could also hold the shock in place with a large headed screw with a short distance of threads into the center of the broken area to retain the shock (obviously with the shock in place, imo, though, this would certainly be a warranty issue.

umm.... i opended the glove box to take out my flash light and the thing just f'n snapped. wear and tear? i hardly ever open it. maybe the retard at the dealer who repaired my interior light kit didn't re-install the shock properly? f'n piece of sh*t plastic car. bumper to bumper warranty better cover it.

bumer to bumper warranty should cover that, i mean, the shock that is in place (on mine at least), is barely hanging on, there is nothing to really keep it on as i said before ^^^, hell if you have too much stuff in there i could definitely see how that little cheap tab could break
