Im a noob about car audio so i need to know what would be a good package. please list prices to thanks.

 

well... i could sit here and list packages from 500 up to several thousand. How much are you willing to spend on a sub/amp/box/wiring kit?

Rough estimates..but you should be able to find these items around the prices above. I suggest just building your own 12x12x12 3/4 mdf enclosure to save some $$$.

so there, half the work is already done for you. Just go out to a circuit city or best buy (or online) and pick out whatever brand equipment you like and can afford. If you're a total noob, then it may be easier to just have CC or BB install for you. Just haggle a bit with the price, tell them the other store quoted you less, etc. etc..

Rec. Brands: Alpine, Audiobahn, Eclipse, Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, Kenwood, Infinity, Orion, JL, Pioneer, Polk... this is were YOU do the work. Pick what YOU want.

 

I would talk to Nick06tc that seems like a good deal if you could work something out...

 

IMOPO its probably better to go pick out a new Sub(s) as opposed to buying 3 year old subs second hand from someone you don't know. (no warranty, etc..)

plus, that model JL sub is probably a little lower quality than many of the nicer subs you'll find on the market today.

and that lanzar amp, admittedly, won't do you much good.

so unless you are jonesing for some JL subs, i'd go the CC/BB route.

also, mtx subs are NICE

 

I agree new is better of course. But to say this model Jl sub is lower quality is the craziest thing I have ever heard. Im not trying to push my sale, because I know the only thing good about my auction is how cheap it is. Im trying to give someone a good deal compared to what a new good sub costs. They are old subs, but I and most people would put an old set of W6 12"s up against any modestly priced new sub. No you guys dont personally know me but I am no different than any seller on here.

 

yes jl audio is simply the best!!! i have one jl 10w1v2 and an e1200 amp only pushing 120 watts into the thing and it pounds nicely.

 

the old models with the dust caps aren't as tight as the newer models. Not a bad sub, but you could get better with a new sub, plus warranty etc...

o GOD! here we go again.

Before SL and Mandos...had ANYONE ever HEARD of ED?? Certainly not me or anyone i know. Not saying they don't make quality stuff. Just saying i think they've been WAY overhyped on here due to a certain member's affiliation and subsequently other members were given good deals in exchange for talking up ED among scion owners.

Again, this doesn't comment on the quality of product, but this is certainly the way it seems to me (and others i'm sure).

Bottom line: ED is NOT the Pinnacle of Car audio. there are Much better companies and product lines out there. But i guess if MAndos will hook you up on a great deal..maybe its worth a shot.

 

I'm not saying ED is the best there is, but it IS the BEST for the PRICE.... and yes, I heard ED's before having a Scion...

 

Actually, no one on Scion Life has been given preferential treatment over any of our other customers. There is a forum discount for being a member of SL, just like there is for several other forums. We also happen to sponser SL. No one was given a deal and asked to come on here and suggest our gear, they do that because the like it.

No, eD is not the end all of car audio, and there are definitely brands out there that are better. We just try to offer a great product at an even better price...because we know not everyone can afford say, a pair of Rainbow comps...

People like what we sell, at the prices we sell it. That's really all it is when people suggest the brand to others. I didn't give anyone the "hook up."

Go with Image Dynamics for your sub(s). It's some quality shiznit. I've had my IDMAX slammin 1000 RMS for 3yrs, no problem. Not only obnoxious loud when I want it to be, but also GREAT SQ!

 

ED is some of the best bang for buck. Ive never heard them in person, but they are unbeatable prices. Plus their website layout makes it easy for you. They put package deals with their speakers and amps that run them so it takes the guess work out for someone that has no clue. So many times people have no clue what amp to put with components. On the website it spells it all out for you. So I give them props just for making stuff easy.

And to 2LOtC, You seem impossible to please. you knock some of the BETTER speakers ever made (JL W6's) then rag on ED on a post that didnt even call for it. What do you have against me trying to sell some speakers and ED trying to have a business?

I just call it like i see it Bro. Don't mean to offend anyone, But No one (in the car audio community) of the many people i've aske since i first came to this forum has ever heard of ED either. I'm not commenting on the quality, because unlike the other poster, i CANNOT comment on the quality of something i haven't heard in person or have experience with.

Mandos, i'm not saying you "hooked up" anyone or gave tc people preferential treament in exchange for having them talk up ED. ALL i'm saying is that you (and SCI tc Guy) have been pushing ED stuff so hard that it may give people the impression that elemental designs IS the TOP of the line, hi end audiophile stuff.

I'm just saying, when you post/answer questions/suggest products you should disclose that you are a Biased towards ED because you work/or have a relationship with them. I think then maybe people (noobs with no car audio knowledge) wouldn't be so quik to jump all over ED. I mean, i applaud your salesmanship skills. But it just gets a little ridiculous when EVERY car audio thread inevitably ends with "YEAh, ED is the best bang for the buck."/"I recommend you get ED comps" etc...

Maybe if there was equal representation on the forums from Other companies like ALpine, Eclipse, Audiobahn, Infinity, etc.. it wouldn't be such a big deal. But it just really "seems" like the ED folks are a very vocal minority, yet are monopolizing the audio forums and channeling all the biz thru to ED.

Since ED sponsors the site, why not sponsor a consumer reports style audio comparison test so you can actually have proof to back up your claim the ED is the "best bang for the buck"--a very big claim to make.

thats all. Heck i hope someone does prove how good the stuff is, and i'll go out and buy it!
