2Lo, I can see your point, but when you can buy the eDi6500s for $250 shipped to your door, and they sound BETTER than JL's XR series components (I've not heard their ZRs yet) in a tC, I'd have to call that best bang for the buck....eD's lower end components sound as good or better than almost ALL ~$200 components (for only $125)... not to mention the support that eD has for the Scion community, the 3 year transferable warrany, and online tech/sales support straight from the guys AT eD .... You're not going to get better feedback from ANY of the "big name" companies than you can get with them...

There's no way to "prove" how good their stuff is because you really have to hear it and have a good understanding of what makes a good product...

BTW: no harm no foul... but don't come into forums chastizing me or anyone else for pushing eD's products so hard.... we do it because WE believe what we say is the truth... if I thought there was a different brand that was superior for your dollar, I'd push them like I do eD... but I haven't found a company I've been so satisfied with (however, CDT has some amazing products as well).....

I can see where you're coming from.

But one thing to remember, out of anyone here that suggests eD, only I have any relation to the company. Everyone else is just a consumer that likes the products.

Sure, I may chat with a few occasionally on AIM and whatnot, but I do that with anyone that gets my AIM name...since it is linked in every post. Most people I talk to from here aren't even asking about eD...they want LED help

I just doubt you've heard ALL other comparable component systems from EVERY other audio company--which is the way you make it seem. and if you haven't, then you're really just expressing a totally biased opinion which may or may not be accurate. IE. Just because YOU like the ED stuff and are satisfied and happy with your purchase, that doesn't meant that its the best company out there and "bang for your buck". Its just misleading to act like you're some kind of Car audio pro, who's heard EVERY component system ever, and you say ED is the best. I happen to like my subs (A lot) but i dont go around telling everyone they're THE BEST (bang for the buck)...because i haven't heard every other sub in the comparable price range.

theres nothing wrong with suggesting, or talking up a company, but when you act like its just the best thing going since sliced bread...well, i just don't buy that. Again, i think more people (on the east coast say) would have heard about ED and certainly their popularity would be exploding if they were as good as you say. I've never heard of ED except for on this forum.

And i checked the ED website..Very basic. Nothing any other car audio company doesn't have. I just think you guys are in love with you systems, and it translates to "ED is the best in the world".

name any fairly popular brand of components and I'll almost guarantee I've heard them demo'd...(did you see the ALMOST ALL in my previous post)... for the price, they can't be beat in my eyes/ears.... take it with a grain of salt if you'd like, I don't care... I'm not gonna waste time arguing with you...

Guys, this is a thread about a person asking what they should get.

Get it back on topic, or it's going away.

I can tell you first hand that I'll talk up eD until I'm blue in the face, and I'll do it because their products, customer service, and prices are unbeatable IMHO! SCI_TC_GUY, myself and whoever else do not need to get "hooked up" to represent a company we are very fond of and appreciate!
Sorry Mandos!! Back on topic, check out www.edesignaudio.com

i've checked the website already. I have to say, i'm not that impressed. Nothing compared to audiobahn or JL's site.

hmmm. where in PA u from Paragonvictim? i've never seen nor heard or ED anywhere around SE PA. In fact, i think you're the first PA person i've come across with ED.

its fine the YOU like YOUR equipment, but i just think its not rite that WHENEVER someone (a noob) comes and asks a question about what audio setup they should go with..they're instantly channeled thru to the ED site etc... case closed.

Theres no comparison. No 2nd choice. its just ED is the BOMB and thats all. I just don't buy that. Sorry!

I can't believe just becuase people have never heard of a company they think it is not a good product. I meet people everday that have never heard of Scion, or the tC. Does that mean that Scion does not produce a great product at a great price. I have owned, not just listened too, car audio products from JL, rockford, Zapco, polk, infinity, JBL, RE, pioneer, panasonic, Boston acoustiics, sony, and more i am sure, I just can't recall right now. In my experience the best subwoofer I have ever had was from Resonant Engineering. I cannot recall one person that has heard of RE that is local, but I got an amazing subwoofer and an unreal price. I would put it up against any "Major Brand" as far as soundquality goes. Am I going with RE again, NO, they jacked up their prices. Who am I leaning toward now? Elemental Designs. I do not think I will go with strictly ED gear, b/c I don't think their 4-Channel amp can do what I want it to do. But I will probably go with their $250 components and two of those 6.5" woofers or a pair of the 9kv.2's. I have not heard either of these speakers, but I am confident that they will either perform well, or that I will be able to recoup most of my money back selling them. Also, you have to understand, I am not going for the sound most people with "systems" are going for. I want a nice, balanced SQ system. The average person I meet has a 1000 watt CC or BB amp rattling two or more 12"-15" speakers with a stock deck and some 6x9's on the back dash.

Nick

By the way, if anyone knows where I can still get a good deal or RE8's let me know.

tc=GREAT product and a GREAT price?? i don't think so. I'd say average-to-good product at a decent-good price. And consumer Reports (the foremost and most respected UNBIASED consumer advocacy testing group) agrees with me-"first year reliability was average". the tc LOOKS great, has some nice features..But even after putting 30K miles on it, i would NEVer call it a GREat product. Now an EVO, thats a great product at a great price.

What do you base your confidence in ED on if you've never heard them?? Are you just taking the word of people you've never even talked to in person?? And the fact that you qualified your statement by saying, "OR i will be able to recoup most of my money..." doesn't exactly backup your prior statement about being confident in the ED stuff.

Good luck with your system. I'm running an SQ setup too

ps. I've owned, sony, JBL, audiobahn, kenwood, and pioneer (heard up close and personal MTX, JL, Alpine, RF, Eclipse, Polk, Diamond Digital Designs and a few more) speakers/subs.. No where near enough to be making such broad generalizations about what the best speaker company is. I could tell you what I like (which is what Mandos and SCI_tc_Guy do..incessantly) but that plus $3 can buy you a gallon of gas. aka. who cares??

2LoTc, I'm sorry you don't like your car, or the fact that customers of Elemental Designs enjoy their products.

Look through my previous posts, I don't try forcing products on anyone here and will only answer direct questions about the company, I NEVER suggest eD to anyone looking for a system. People that are consumers and like our products are the ones that suggest them to others.

To the OP, please start a new topic if you need more help on picking out a stereo. I'll try to keep it clean of people that don't like their cars, or the fact that there are people that enjoy their stereos.
