These pics are scary and use the crimps it's easier than tape and a lot better. and did you recess the unit so that it sits back far enough to close the door? I have to say that's prolly one of my favorite things about my car. they fact i can cover my z3 so no one knows it's there.

Ok thanks for the input guys!! I joined those three last wires and taped them. I didnt really do a clean wire install since its my first time doing it. DarktC So you say unplug the dimmers?? You mean ill get a blown fuse if the yellow touches the black or metal but the copper isnt exposed and the black ones arent exposed too I taped them pretty well. But ill re-do everything with crimps this weekend and get the wiring cleaned up!

Pics!

Also I ran into a problem I did drill the indents farther back so my radio door will close but it hits when its closing in the following pictures where my finger is pointing at(plastic I point and it bumps to the volume ****). It barely wants to close. I guess because its the DDX512 and not the AVIC D3??? Is there anyway to fab it to make my radio door close??

This is how flush it got with the modified stock bracket...

That would be pointless.
Why are there NO pics in your gallery? I can tell you're real proud of all that great work you do.
Anyway.... thanks for starting poop in this guy's thread.
I'm done.
How about the thread of my entire install with pics....search for it before you make comments like that...

Not to mention..what the hell are you doing in your center consol?...the wiring for your deck is behind the radio..NOT in your center consol..

In your pictures I could see copper showing on the harness that was haning out of the front of your dash...so the wires were exposed...and yes, just disconnect the orange and orange/white wires and cap them off (or tape since everyone likes tape so much). Just don't tape them TOGETHER..insulate them individually.

Im buying some crimps today ill redo the conections today or tomorrow if I work today. Oh on the picture I already joined those three wires together and taped them, but like I said im redoing the conecctions today. So ill have to remove Orange/White (Dimmer) and Orange/Black(Ground for Dimmer)?? And just insulate them?

Also anyone have any ideas how to make my radio door close, I already modified the bracket so it sat more flush. I guess I gotta modify the plastic behind the radio door??

What the hell am I doing in my center console?
GROUNDING THE PARKING BRAKE WIRE SO I CAN PLAY A DVD WHILE DRIVING.
Learn to read, then go back and find out what I'm talking about before you make such stupid comments like that.

ps - I have no interest in your install thread... I paid someone to install my stereo.

Nexus,
TAPE FTW !!!

a
Why not just ground it in with the ground for the deck?...put them all in one "tape & superglue" bundle.

Because that would have required going behind the head unit. What I did literally took only about 30 seconds.
Two drops of glue and a piece of tape no bigger than half of my thumb.
Less work and it works just the same.
Please respond in PM if you really have to.

I re did all my conections yesterday wih crimp caps and zip-tied everything! Yeah it does a cleaner job and the wires are more secure now =D

Now I gotta modify my radio door a bit it barely wants to close, it closes but it pushes the volume **** a bit.

1DarkTC's point about glue and tape is a valid one. A connection like this could create problems. The glue you used may not be electrically insulated, meaning it could conduct current if another wire or electrically charged item comes in contact with it. Or it could create added resistance to the connection, and have a bad ground. Not to mention the possibility of the tape coming loose and glue breaking off due to extreme weather.

He wasn't (just) being a dick, he was warranted.

On something that is grounding a connection carrying power, sure. But to simply bypass the video lockout... I'm pretty sure there's no risk involved there.
The 2 drops of superglue aren't just gonna loosen. They are on the length of wire, not the actual connection. The bit of tape is just extra reinforcement...probably nor even needed. It gets HOT down here...and it's still holding up.
I'd never advise someone to halfass any power connections. I watched a friend's 71 Chevelle burned down that way. :/
And I was in the car when it caught fire. LOL
