headliner
but if you remove the Oh **** handles, the dome light(s), the visiors, the 2 clips in the rear (push pins) and the 2 hooks in the rear and start pulling at the edges (carefully) it should come right out.
my first time was with some help from a friend and we got it out in about 15 min.
just becareful with the oh sht handles they are tricky
idk how easy the xB is

What Dave says is correct. it is do-able on your own buttttt if you can get help get some. I recently pulled mine out and kind of laughed at how easy it was.
it is actually easier to do unless you have side airbags as they make it harder to get the C and A pillars out,but the headliner can come out with them in still,it is just more of a pain.
well you dont have to take them off as the headliner is flexable, but it sure as heck makes it so much easier to pull it all out,to pull the B pillar out it is also easier to pull the rear side panel by the seat, carefully if you do not take out he whole seat,as you can bend the tabs up,then you have access to the 2 10mm screws and then it comes up and then out.........on average one person can pull the headliner in an hour first time doing it even.
At this point I can gut the entire car including the pain in the butt dash in 2 hours.....lol...that dash is a nightmare to get the last two screws.

the airbag part is easy.......
disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before disassembly, then grab A piller near the top and give it a pull, once it is loose from the top you can look behind and see the pin tat mounts into a plastic clip, that clip needs cut out,a set of dikes or hack saw blade to cut it on each side of the plastic and the pin will come free, takes a little work to do but they are like $2 each at the dealership,do not reuse the clip, the Cpillar has the clip as well, loosen from the rear and you will see the one that is anchored,it is actually easier to get than the A piller clip, also available at dealership for $2 each,B pillar remove the seat belt from floor mount, loosen or remove the panel, and undo the two screws on each side and pul it out and up and it rotates down from the headliner where it hangs from.
pop out the dome lights.......pop out the two pins by rear dome light, take off visors and Oopppps handles, take out the visor clip by turning 90 degees and it comes right out, came with the coat hook, pop it open and unscrew it.
then grab headliner from back and give a tug down, the rear dome light wires are sticky taped to it as is the front one,pay attention to where their path is so when yo put back in it is same spot.
once out do as you need to headliner and reinstall in reverse.

Yeah the clips can be reused, but the manual says put new ones in,and for the cost may as well, plus by the time you get them out you will need new ones, also it is easiest to take out back seat to get all the panels out, that way you can pull out the rear trunk pieces and climb in the car with room to work.
Are you gonna suede the interior......if so be prepared for many many hours of work......it is a pain to do,that is why you do not see too many of them, but if done right looks really sweet.Mine turned out incredable and is only one of two in the PNW and the other guy is selling his car soon for an Audi so it is gonna just leave me....gets big points at shows.
