are you wanting to go with a complete 5.1 surround??? have the center, left and right front, and left and right surrounds??? or just replace the factory speakers for better sound??? The best way to pick out the "best speakers" is listen to them....all of them.....or at least as many as you can....then let your ears and personal preference decide....some good brands to look into are:
JL(what I have), CDT Audio, Diamond audio, Focal, Boston Acoustics, EDi, RE Audio, MB Quart....there are more good brands, people will post them I'm sure...

Just listen around and find what you like....

I'm convinced you won't find a better set of coaxs or components than Focal... they sound amazing.

how do the Edi's compare to the MQ QSD's? Granted, I know you work for edesign, so that's like asking Microsoft who makes a better O/S....

yeah.....Rainbow are really expensive......but for what you get, Focal isn't that great......yeah, they sound awesome, but not for their price tag.....I'd never buy a component system over like $600-$700....but If I were going for SQ, it'd be morel's with macintosh amps....

There are 2 groups of components:
1) general excellent sounding components (the ones almost everyone on the forum has) JL, CDT Audio, Diamond audio, Focal, Boston Acoustics, EDi, RE Audio, MB Quart, etc. etc. etc...these are awesome components and the type I'll always stick with...

2) Components/speakers that will blow the socks off of any of the above. (the ones MAYBE 1 or 2 people of the forums have) Morel, SEAS, DLS, Rainbow, etc....

hehe...yeah, kinda sucks like that....I try to be objective though ;)

Never heard the speakers you mentioned...but I did a direct comparison between JL XR's, RF Fanatic X's, and the eDi's last July(Before I worked here). The eDi's were easily the best sounding speakers. The tweeter was more laid back than either of the other sets, and the mid bass more pronounced than the RF set.

Personally I like my tweeters not to be quite so in your face as the JL tweets were...Plus the x-over included in the 6500s porbably helped a bit as the tweets didn't seem to be straining as much...I believe they are x-over'd higher than the other sets....or it could be because of the size that they don't strain as much playing lower notes...The tweeters in the eDi's are about 1.5" As opposed to the 1" tweets in the XR's or the 3/4" tweet I had w/ my Fanatic X's.

Midbass, well, comparison to the Fanatic X's isn't really fair since I had the 5 1/4" speakers. The JL's were right about on par for midbass reprodction.

Really, a lot is in the crossover network...it was designed to get the most out of either speaker...without putting undue stress on it. That, combined with the larger tweeter really helps the overall sound of the set.

Yeah...that's lots of words...

QSD's are MB Quarts flagships. They generally run about $1000 if you buy them from an authorized retailer. The sound on them is amazing....but certainly not worth $1000. I wouldn't have them if i hadn't been hooked up by a friend and got them at cost.

I checked to see if they were on MB Quarts website....but it looks like they have the old Q series up there. Lol, doesnt say much for MB Quart's advertising, does it???
