Hey guys, I have just recently purchased a Kensington Liquid Aux Deluxe for my Iphone3g. It hooks up to the power supply outlet in the center console, along with a plug that hooks into the auxiliary outlet. While driving I hear a spooling sound, like the one that comes from manual transmissions, but through my speakers. Whenever I drive faster, the sound gets faster and seems like it's matching my RPMs.

So I'm not really sure if I should bring this to the dealership or not. I am still under warranty, and I have used an auxiliary cable in the past for another ipod. But that auxiliary cable stopped responding. Any help would be nice, thanks!

*Edit* Could it be that since it's connected to my power supply as well, it may be draining my power causing the speakers to make that noise?

 

Its a feature the stock radio has. The sound gets louder as you go faster. You can turn it off.

 

oh and the feature is called ASL in the aud cont menu.

 

u serious? I hear an interferance when i connect my Aux cable too. however it goes away then i disconnect from the power supply.

i think its a little more than that .

Well he said the sound gets louder when he goes faster. It also can be a combination of hooking it up to the ipod connector and aux cable.

 

I turned ASL off, it is an interfering sound though. When I disconnect the power supply the sound dissipates.

 

It gets to the point where I have to disconnect the entire thing because the noise either gets annoying or too loud. Especially when I drive on the highway.

 

yup, thats the same trouble i am having with my AUX connection. If you disconnect the power it goes away so i believe it has something to do with the powersupply connection.


Solutions anyone??

 

Just run it without the power supply. I leave the auxiliary cable plugged in in my car even though I don't have an iPod (my friends bring theirs every now and then). I noticed if you leave the stereo on AUX mode and theres nothing connected to the end of the auxiliary cable, the stereo will put out a clicky noise that matches the engine RPM... As for why it does this? I DON'T KNOW! Might not even be related to your problem...

 

Unfortunate for me, there is no separate aux cable . I would post a pic of it for you guys, but I'm late for work already. Thank you for your help, I think I'll just make a quick run to the dealer on monday or something. See if they would replace it for me.

 

this problem in particular may be due to grounding across the AUX connector. being that no device is connected. Kinda like what happens to your PC speakers if you hold on the to end of the connector

 

The problem is describe in th manual. It's the power supply to the audio device.

 

I know it has something to do with the grounding but it happens even when the cable is just hanging out of the center console not even touching anything.

 

It sounds to me like an electrical interference issue like we used to get on the older cars equipped with a distributor. The ignition (distributor and wires) leaks-off electromagnetic energy that manifests it'self as noise through your speakers. You can purchase a filter to reduce the problem.

 

where can I buy such filter?

 

i was just speaking to a co worker about this and he suggest using a "ferrite bead" and another personell suggested a "dehummer" .

the dehummer shound like BS as i cant find any info on it

 

oh a ferrite bead cost about $3 at radio shack

 

I'd say it's available through eBay, Radio Shack, any car-audio store, Best Buy,.....you get the basic picture!

you need a ground loop isolator

it has nothing to do with the ASL AT ALL and has more to do with the ground being poor in the aux port.

they fixed that in the '08+ by placing a ground for the aux (which they should have done so in the first place)
