so im getting my girlfriend a system for christmas, and she just got a 2005 scion tc.
i have about 1,100 to spend on the system.

im thinking im gonna need speakers, sub, and an amp.

unfortunately i dont know anything about the scion tc.

can anyone tell me the sizes for:
-the front speakers
-the rear speakers

AND also..

can anyone recommend brands/powers for the speakers, sub, and amp?

help would be GREATLY appreciated,

chip, i can only help so much... but here it goes

front speakers 6 1/2 Component Speakers. (6 1/2" mid-range, tweeter, and a crossover)

rear speakers 6 1/2 coaxial ( two-way/3-way/4-way speakers)

now. you to consider what kind of stereo you are gonna use and wat type of quality ur gonna look for. i work for circuit city as a car audio installer and i personaly own a 06 tC. i know your on a budget of $1100 which is really good amount. but if you were planing on gettin a really good evened out sound system you might be looking at $1500 to $2300 bucks. depending on the products you choose. what i can recommend is this.

starter:
eclipse deck, polk components, polk coaxials.

bass addon:
eclipse xa1000 (d-class amp 400watts rms) with Eclipse Dual 12" Sealed Subwoofer Enclosure (SW6124BXD)
note: this can be a bit pricey.. but all great quality. trust me. i want this in my car.

speaker high performance:
note: if the bass is tooo much to enjoy the music or the sound is distorting at high volumes its because the radio can only put out 16-25 watts RMS (50watts PEAK) and if u have good speakers... they can handle far more power with a 4ch amp.
eclipse xa4000 put out 80watts RMS x 4 channels. so each speaker will have a good amount of power on them.

all of this your looking at almost $1800 worth of product and about another $400 bucks for installation and parts....

rough estimate but this all high quality products.... u can always downgrade to somethin thats cost efficient. you can go to any circuit city/bestbuy/ mom and pop shops and they can give u a good demo of all the products they might have. i would recommend eclipse/alpine/clarion/jvc for stereos; eclipse/polk/pioneer (kevlas series)/kicker/infinity/alpine for speakers; mtx/kicker/eclipse for bass and highs. not in that order tho. just shop around. see wat you u like and wat you can handle at the moment. personally i have 80% mtx in my car which will change soon. because i want a whole ECLIPSE sound system. ever since we started carrying and i started installing it. i'm amazed on the quality the products put out. and its made by toyota. he.

if u have ne questions on wat i wrote.. let me know. reply or msg me....

Elemental Designs for everything, IMO....

eD(i)6500s 6.5" front components - $250 (don't need any rear speakers)
NIne.2amp for said components - $185 shipped
13Ov.2 D2 subwoofer - $135
Nine.2x amp for said subwoofer - $225 shipped

That's $795 + shipping for the sub and components

Spend $100 on wiring and $200 on a decent HU and that makes $1100

I can pretty much guarantee that for this price, this setup will pretty much blow any others out of the water in terms of Sound Quality and overall performance...

^^ what kind of products did you get though???

eD has an awesome product when put up against comparably priced equipment and even a lot of more expensive equipment... not to mention eD has 3 year transferable warranty and unlimited tech support...

I second going with eD. Does she want to have a box sitting in the truck? My fiancee didn't so luckily eD came out with the SQ10 that could be hidden next to the spare tire.

^^ true that.... could get the dual SQ10 setup that'll stay under the floor... then just 2 Nine.2's (one for subs one for comps).... that'd be SWEET!!!

This is the setup I am aiming for as well. Just got my car wired up with the 8 AWG wire kit on saturday and am currently working on building the stealth box for the SQ-10 sitting in my apartment. In a month or two, I will be buying an ED amp and components to finish off the system. Listen to Chris (Mandos), he knows what he is talking about.

1- Keep the deck in place. No point in using up your budget replacing something with something else she already has.

2- Front speakers: VR650-CSi http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_c...hp?comp_id=127 Fits the front doors including the tweeter locations. The stock bracket can be used to mount the tweeters for perfect fit. Retail: $300.

3- Rear speakers: Keep them stock (I have). You want the majority of the sound to be in the front, no point in investing a lot of cash on rear speakers in a two channel system.

4- Amplfier: A6450 http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=403 has balanced differential inputs that will interface directly with the stock deck without need of nasty LOC's. Real world power ratings based upon in-car voltage not rediculous 14.4V othe manufacturers use. Rated 6 x 75. Retail: $400

5- Sub bass: CS110RG-W1v2 http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_e...=9&prod_id=321 enclosure built by JL Audio for JL Audio subwoofers. Retail: $180 (inc driver).

Total retail: $880 for a system with an excellent reputation for performance and reliability. Something she would be proud to own and leaves enough cash for parts, labor and a tank of gas!

Super bonus (if you really love her):

Replace the subwoofer with the Stealthbox for an estimated $400 up charge. The Stealthbox will hide away and maintain the entire utility of the trunk. You will not be able to put this under the tree as it will be part of the 2007 product line.

05 and 06 can have identical systems put in them easily... I could give you a lot of options but the one I listed is a good balance of loud and sounding REALLY good
