Default Custom HUD and alternate gauge led

so peep these new mods. first, what I'm real proud of is the new heads up digital tach and shift light. i previously had the digi tach in the cubby below the HVAC. i was inspired by my buddies 240sx to do a HUD. i wasn't pleased with the after market HUDs that I've seen, they seem bulky and very obvious. i wanted something stealth. so i took the digital tach, which i got off eBay, fastened a mirror to it, which was a pain getting it to the right angle. i then cut out some of the far left air vent, custom fitted the mirror and tach under the dash so the reflection is reversed on the windshield, creating a stealth HUD. i have it so it is projected onto the windshield from the upper vent( the defroster blowing on the driver window). Second, i thought that the orange gauges looked sick with a blue light shining on them. so i wired about 14 blue leds to the gauge bezel and now its "front lit". the lights cause gaps so i feel that i need to either go neon string, or led flex bars. I'm happy what it looks like now.

this is the shift light when it hits the desired rpm

the numbers are legible (even though the camera serves no justice) , i need to find some mirror like tint so it may be visible in the daylight.

let me know what you think...

I think its super bright
Try taking a road trip with those bad boys you will be dying at night
And set your camera on something solid for a crisper pic

Not too bad. I'd like to see a better pic of the HUD.

Here is an aftermarket HUD.

its not that bad, the camera makes them look alot brighter than they are. i guess i could hook them to a potentiometer in order to dimm and brighten them.

not so much... it's just the camera's setting that need to be adjusted

even if you dim them.. unless the camera's settings are right... they can still end up bring really bright in pictures...

really, the only best judgement of how bright anything really is, is to see them in person... but you can adjust camera's to try and tone the brightness down with a faster shutter speed.

all those crazy bright pictures of gauges? yeah.... sure...

i can make the night sky seem it was daytime with a simple adjustment of the camera.

oh also... if you want the gauges front lit like that... look into oznium's flex led strips. they throw out a nice even light which would suit your application.

the way i did the mirror was kinda ghetto, i want to take a periscope and fit the shift light in so its more accurate. ill do a nice write up and step by step soon, when i redo it. i just wanted to know if it worked. and hear some opinions.
