Default Help. new HU install...AC lights now gone

so yeah. i buy a great new HU and now my lights for the ac control panel are now off. its wierd, check it out.
had an old system with amp no subs then the Hu died. rewired with Line out convertors and put stock Hu back in. now have new HU and installed new wiring harness and tapped back in. taking out the line out convertors and taped backed up. put it all back togetherand noticed this.
put the key in turn on the car the backlight for the clock turns on like it should. but when i turn on the headlights the clock light goes out and the backlights for the buttons don't light up. pressing the buttons for reardef and the others light up when i hit them. checked the connections. fine. disconnected the battery hoping that would do something. nay. has anyone run into this? should i just take it to dealer?

Thanks for the help.

Well...I was going to suggest making sure the thing was clicked all the way in in the back...that's about the only thing I could think of if you ONLY changed the HU.

All the AC wiring is handled through a separate harness that you have to pull when removing the top part of the center console. Check fuses and make sure that the connector is pushed to the point of going...CLICK.

Then take it to a dealer if it doesn't work.

sounds like you blew the dash lights fuse or rheastat(sp), the dimmer control piece. Id check fuses and make sure you didnt ground the radio to the dimmer wire instead of ground, a common mistake

I just figured out what did it on my car. Was going back over thr wiring with a fine tooth comb and didn't realize there were 2 ilumination leads on the toyota harness. 1 positive and 1 negative.... not playing close attention when wiring i presumed one was on the HU since i'd never seen 2 on a factory harness and wired them together. will check my fuse box in a few and see what i blew.
