Default HELP PLEASE! Kenwood dnx8120 goes tilt after turning off...?

I just had my DNX8120 installed in my car about an hour ago.

It seems to be working fine, but whenever I turn the car off the unit sits for a second, then the screen half-tilts and it seems to rest in that position. Is that normal?

Also, is there a way to turn off the stereo without turning off car? (I know that sounds like a stupid question, but I've only gotten to fool around with it for about 5 minutes so far. I plan to do more tonight.)

Thanks

SRC button will shut it off while the car is on. the screen should actually do the oposite and close not open when you power down

That is what I assumed should happen... which is why I am posting this topic.

The screen will close when I turn the unit off / turn off the car.

It will sit there for about 5-7 seconds, then all of a sudden it will tilt an inch or two and just sit there.

Someone PLEASE lend some helpful info or advice...
Everything else seems to work flawlessly.

Strange. I have the same headunit and my deck doesn't do any tilting after shut down. I couldn't even think of anything to suggest to you...

wonder if it could be a software problem. I'm pretty sure it isn't the most recent release.

It's normal! The unit automatically reverts to it's default position a few seconds after it's turned off. When you turn it on, it resets to whatever position/angle you programmed it to be.

I have the DNX7100 and when I push and hold the NAV button it turns the unit off... Not sure if it's different on the new 8120, but I couldn't imagine it being any different. It's practically the same unit

What's normal??
Is it supposed to rest in an angled position when the unit is off?
Do you understand how I described the situation?
I turn the stereo off, it turns off, then it sits there for a moment, then the screen angles to where the disc drive is almost exposed.

How do you program the angles? I've been searching all around on the stereo and cannot find anything on programming angles or even changing the angle of the screen.

Oh wow... That is weird. lol...

Assuming the interface is the same, to select the angle go to that bottom right icon for where all the setup preferences are... Scroll to MONITOR SETUP, select that... Then look up in the right corner for an arrow where you can page over until you see the screen to adjust your screen angle...

PROBLEM SOLVED.
EXCELLENT.

Thanks, cutting.
I guess I didn't notice the "page over" arrow on the monitor setup page. EXCELLENT!
Apparently it lets you choose a setting for the unit to revert to after it shuts down. Why? I have no idea.

I am very happy now. I was worried that my unit had a defect hehehehehehehahahahahah YAY!

:-) good stuff.

I usually am pretty great with technology but I actually had to read the manual for my unit. That says a lot. It's an incredible unit with a mean learning curve, but once you get it it's a joy!

Almost sent mine back the week I got it for almost the same issue!

Good luck!

Default Thanks SOOOOO Much for the help!

I was fooling around with the remote control for my 8120 and whoops, I had no idea I could permanently change the tilt of the screen.........could NOT figure out what dumb buttons I had pressed and couldn't figure out how to stop the stupid thing from tilting. You saved my butt! ps - I tried reading the manual and it didn't have a clue. I've had this system for over 10 years and it works well.......though it can be complicated and certainly not as responsive as newer technology but hey, my car is old too!

A 15 year old thread actually comes to the rescue and kudos to @Bisquick1 for finding via a search!
