Default help running components to headunit

hey guys ...searched for a while and couldnt quite find the answer i was looking for

i had components going to an amp, sold the amp, now i want to hook them up to the factory wiring . My question is :

do i simply run the wire lead , that previously went to the amp, to the + and - wire after the white connector where the tweeter and woofer run together?

im just a little confused on how the stock woofer, and tweeter are connected to each other, and where i should connect the components.

anyone have a picture of the connection and or splicing that you did ?

Thanks guys !

There should be a hi/low filter box that is connected to your tweeters and woofer. From my understanding, that box then has leads that connect to the hu.

correct me if im wrong

If you have a decent component set, it'll have a pair of woofers, tweeters and passive crossovers.

Your signal (the speaker wire, whether from an amp or HU) goes into the passive crossover, and the connections should be marked (like "input" or "source" or "from amp", etc.) and polarity indicated by "+" and "-".

In addition to that "input" connection, the passive crossover will also have two outputs, one should be marked "woofer" or "mid" and the other "Tweeter" or "hi". Run speaker wire from those connections to the appropriate drivers.

If you have some other type of component set that doesn't use a passive crossover of the type I described, say so and we can go from there. HTH.

yea i understand the workings of the component, crossover's and stuff...i just am unsure EXACTLY where to connect the crossover to the stock wiring to the headunit ....directly to the FR and LR speaker connections ( + and - ) right ?

^ Since they were already installed when run by a separate amp, you could just move the wires that were attached to the amp to the back of the HU and splice in there. That seems like it'd be the easiest way, since you wouldn't have to do anything more. An alternative location would be the kick panels, as there's a large molex connector there, where the speaker wiring from the HU plugs in before going into the door from the other side of the connector.

^ ok cool thank you, since my crossover is in the door ...im gonna do it rght to the speaker wire before it goes to the molex in the kickpanels from the speaker ..that will work right ?

^ Yes, you can tap into the stock wires on either side of the molex connector, but there's more slack and room to work on the HU side as opposed to the door side.
