Downside is this box will be perfect for our shallow mount 10". But we won't be selling it until mid/late October.
Of course, we can modify it for Eu-700's/9Kv.2's but then it wouldn't be under the panel.
And the last pics for today...glue didn't cure quick enough to get it out there.
oh, and btw, this isn't my car. I haven't been able to make this box because my car A) doesnt' have the foam things. B) has no where to put them anyway.
New guy at the office started today, brought in his tC

As for securing method, it pretty much locks in place and it rabbeted to fit under the plastic cover for the rear of the hatch. We could always get something like the stock pins that go through the carpet, but at this point, it really doesn't seem necessary.

I think the only sub that actually WILL fit in there is ED's SQ10 slim subwoofer. well, that's the only one that will still be shallow enough for the stock cover to do its job.
This is just a guesstimate, and I may be off base, but I'd say this little gem with the SQ10 sub will probably be around $200-$250. the SQ10 needs 100-400watts RMS in a sealed box as this one. I'd venture to say the mounting depth is no more than ~4" on the box in order to keep it underneath the floor.

It's 5" deep.
To be under the floor w/ 1/2" MDF, you'd need a sub that's less than 3.75" deep. We can certainly make it so you couldn't keep the stock cover and not have the sub flush mounted in there.
As it sits, that box, painted black:

Kinda matches the stock coloring of the panel. It'd only be the top that's painted as the bottom/sides are never seen by anyone...of course, we could paint the whole thing on request, just a little more $$.
Would run, $150, unloaded. Obviously the ideal speaker for that box would be the SQ10, but we can change it up if someone requested something specific. Also, box is at .39 cubic feet, we can squeeze out up to .5 but that would require a lot of extra work on the edges. As you can tell, the box now is a trapezoid with a fancy top and bottom. I've got a part file to make the curves all wood, just takes a lot more time(20+ edges to cut out).
Also, the bottom of the enclosure would have a layer of tek-lite on it to prevent vibrations transfering into the floor of the car.
As for custom making it to clear aftermarket parts, get me specific dimensions on what I'd need to change, I can have it done in a couple hours.
In a few minutes I'll be posting up a video of it. Sounds great, even with the hatch mat cover in place

im a total noob on sound systems but i've been looking into getting one. how hard is it to make your own box out of MDF? is it possible for me to get the exact dimensions and stuff so i can recreate that wonderful box you have in the first post?
1/2" MDF is usable on smaller subs. The SQ10 isn't going to create massive amounts of pressure, 1/2" = ok.
As for recreating it yourself, that'd be insanely difficult. Basically trace the styrofoam on wood, top and bottom as they are different...then cut it out.
Volume w/ sub on that box is at .36 cubic feet.
