Default How bad did the stereo shop screw this up? (front & rear

I purchased two sets of components to outfit the front and back of my car. I saw someone else on here mount their rear tweeters in the plastic part behind the passenger window, so I had them put those there and keep the fronts in the stock location. All went well there. I have a 4 channel amp in the back to power all the speakers. Looking at these pics, are the front speakers properly wired? The amp in the rear is a 4 channel to power four components. First off, I have two missing crossovers. I have two of the Kicker RS65.2 sets, one for the front and one for the rear. The rear crossovers are there, but the front are oddly missing. So that's obviously an issue. I get hissing when the music is paused along with a crackel at first. Shouldn't the wiring from the front speakers run through the tube at the front of the front door and thru the wire cover that runs along the door sill area?

Also, the wire running to the right side which isn't connected to the crossover controls the left front speakers and vice versa. What the hell?

Please, someone who is educated with this, tell me what to _____ at them about tomorrow besides my obvious missing crossovers.

If I'm confusing with anything, ask for more pics or info.

Thanks.

does the tweeter work? The crossover should have 2output and 1 input.
Tyy to turn the amp off or down and see if the tweeter plays
Looks like they may of just let the radio play the tweeter.
Either way looks half assed

Thats jacked up. I dont understand the cut leads that do not connect to anything, since it looks like a wire they installed. Looks like they made a mistake in wiring and then cut it and moved to another wire.

Where did you get this done? I posted details of the crap done by the local install on my scion to keep someone else from going to the same shop.

One of the first things I examine is wiring on an install and its a fairly good sign of how much pride someone takes in their work. I do not see much pride here.

I would honestly remove the speakers and check the connections on the back to make sure they connected the wires well and correctly.

Ok first off you don't know what you're talking about. So calm down. The leads that connect to nothing are a little concerning. Other than that the install looks ok. When I had mine done by a shop the wires for the amps went back towards the HU and tapped into the factory lines so they didn't need to run cable into the doors and to the rear speakers. I'm guessing this is what was done in your install as well. You haven't posted pics of your door opened up so until you do that you don't know how they're connected. I would also unplug those rear speakers if the tweeter is not connected because it could harm the mid. Those leads that aren't connected to anything also kind of look like they connected to the read white wire and then were cut and left there. Is this your first install? The only thing I would bug the shop about is those leads that go no where. Don't burn your bridges because of ignorance. (Sorry if it sounds harsh but I almost made the same mistake before.)

That job is half-@$$ed. The cut exposed wires say it all. Whoever did the install wasn't looking to get it done clean and correct, but quick and easy.
First, you need to verify that all your components are hooked up correctly from the X-over to the driver and tweet. Pay VERY close attention to the polarity of the wiring, especially from the X-overs to the appropriate speakers. Make sure they have not accidentally wired anything out of phase that is not supposed to be that way.
From there, you need to verify that they have correctly wired the X-overs to the appropriate channels of the amp and that the amp is set accordingly, i.e. set to 4-channel if it is switchable, appropriate gain settings, etc..
If you cannot locate the X-overs, you will need to follow the wiring from the driver/tweeter to wherever it ends, which should lead you to your X-over. Under NO circumstances should the tweeter or driver be hooked to anything BUT the X-over! This includes the radio.
If you still cannot find the X-overs for the front, you may need to look inside the door. This is an installation no-no as water can get inside the door which, unless your X-overs are waterproof (and I've yet to see one that is), will damage the X-over. Unfortunately, many shops don't really care if your equipment gets messed up as long as they get the job done quickly. Quick is not always best, and shortcuts usually come back to bite you in the @$$ later on.
The rest of this all goes without saying, but I figured I'd mention it anyway. You need to know where all the problems are before you take the car back to have it corrected. Give the shop manager a written list of all the issues. Tell him that you are completely unsatisfied with their work and want it done correctly. If you can, stay and watch them correct the issues. Ordinarily, if you are keeping a keen eye on their work, they are much less likely to do a ____-poor job of fixing the issues.
Good luck!

Really hard to tell from the picture but it looks like 4 sets or leads going to the x-over. Tracing the cut wire, it appears to be one of the leads coming from the x-over.

What it looks like they did was run direct wires from the amp to the rear speakers and then connected the front speakers to the factory rear speaker wires and then I bet if you look behind the head unit the wires from the rear speakers are jumped to the factory front speaker wires and the crossover is in the door.

It works but it is cheap non professional way to install. The crimp caps are a good indication of non professional work. I wouldn't personally install that way but it will work fine. Many shops do not run wires to each speaker from a 4ch amp but most of the time they at least run them up behind the HU and connect to the factory wires into the doors.
