have you used V4? i doubt a sound wave will compress it.

 

yes i have used it and after extended use from what i hear it will compress it.

maybe use an egg carton foam or just polyfill. the only thing i would see being of any use inside a sub box would be something to trap the rearward wave so it doesn't bounce back at the rear of the cone. but i have read it doesn't matter much for subwoofers but more for mid-bass and midrange drivers.

 

i'd just do it for a perfect seal, a better weight and more thud do it. you don't want your sealed box resonating or vibrating.

 

that is true but build it right from the start and it should not resonate.
