Default Ideas for GPS reciever location..

So, I finally bought a USB GPS receiver for my carPC. Question is, where do I place the receiver puck? Right now I have it sitting on my dash up in the center. It works very well, I'd just like to have it out of the way somewhere.

If anyone else uses something similiar (Mine is a BU-353) and has a cool/hidden place to mount it, post up!

Thanks.

Some people have put it right behind the sunroof track. (If it's small enough to fit in there.)

that tinted part behind the rearview mirror is a very good place to put it. in the head liner or in the pillars work if u want to hide it.

do you have a work blog on ur carpc? my modded xbox is working good for me but a overhaul is in order lol

I never thought of putting it in the a-pillar, you don't have any problems with reception? I thought they needed line of sight.

It definitely doesn't need line of sight, the BU-353. I have that same receiver and didn't even need to mount mine. I just had it next to my carpc (under the pad in the trunk next to the spare tire).

No reception problems, no wire to run.... Don't forget the metal backing plate that comes with the antenna. I wrapped mine in foam so it sits snuggly in the area. You'll find a divet on top of the air thing that is perfect for an antenna plus some foam.

good stuff. I was thinking about all those places already, just hadn't had time to explore them. I would prefer not to have to mess with the headliner, so it looks like I'll either be using the pillar or right above the air vent (since my pc is inside the dash anyway). I'm pretty sure I have side airbags though since I have an 07... I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I just took out my entire dash since the GPS was sitting on top of it and relocated to on top of my headunit. If only I'd known this before!
