Default Install LED Light in glove box

OK.. I was a little frustrated because of automatic on/off for trunk light..
So my next target was glove box cause there's no light in there originally~ hee hee hee...

I put a same switch on it, so it's gonna get on when glove box opened and off when closed.

As usual ^^, PCB with LEDs....

and light cover...

removed metal terminals to install PCB inside..

switch...

Test before installation in the car

Installation...

wiring...

Now I can see anything inside of glove box at night....

sweeeeeeet~~! ^^

I bought it from other country before I left the country and I brought it here when I moved. It was about 10 bucks and included housing, bulb, switch, wires and some connectors. I actually tried to find similar stuffs at ebay, but couldn't find anything.

I don't understand..you say its only on when the box is opened, but you also have a toggle switch.

Did you wire a pressure sensor to the glovebox so it only comes on when the glovebox is opened?

Very cool mod!
I mounted the 2 cupholder led's ,that come with the stock lighting kit, in my glovebox. Obviously it doesn't put out that kind of light but it's better than nothing.

Yes it is a kind of pressure switch. It goes on when swith released and it disconnects two wires when switch is pressed in. It just works backward compared to normal switch.

Im sure you could go to the junkyard and get the housing from another car and just wire it all up right. Nice install

I'm sorry I actually don't know where you can buy it in the US. I bought it from my home country. I only searched similar housing and switch on ebay, but nothing's there. Anyway I'm planning to register "sponsored sales" in this site soon and then I probably can provide it to you guys.... Anyway..

Let me try to explain it more detail about a wiring.

You see the red(+) and black(-) wires in the above picture. One of the wires(I recommend "black") need to be connected with switch, so bring black wire to the switch, and then cut wire and strip both ends, then hook up both balck wires with two terminals of switch respectively.
This switch is designed to connect both black wires when glove box door is opened(switch released). when glove box cover(door) presses the switch down, it disconnects both black wires.

Now when you've done with the above, bring red wire(from housing) and black wire(from switch) to near the floor on passenger side. See the below picture.

As you see the picture above, I hook those black/red wires up with wires of scion's interior mood light. It consists of black(-) and blue(+), and splice black-black and red-blue by using below picture.

I didn't have above splice connectors, so I just used a different connectors.
now everything's done, so just arrange wires, put some tape not to cause any noise. That's about it. Just let me know when you get any trouble during your mods. ^^
