Default Installing Pioneer D3

Has anyone installed a Pioneer D3 by themselves? I just ordered one, and was trying to see how hard it was to do myself rather than paying a shop to do it.

Any suggestions or tips would be great.

It's relatively straight forward. Just make sure you drill the holes a little further back to accomodate for the radio door to close. I believe there is a DIY thread in the "Tech" section of this site.

its not that hard, pretty simple and there are plenty of threads on SL about it. All you need to do is read up on the bypass and get a harness from crutchfield.

the bypass? Is that so the DVD player works when the car is in motion?

hmm I wonder what Walter did? I remember buying all the stuff. Researching the bypass, drilling the holes for the harness, removing the stock unit and panels, unscrewing everything, snapping on the wiretaps, reinstalling everything, plugging stuff in, and hmm pulling off that nasty tint that you put on my car deliberately. All Walter did was tell me which wire should go where and what wire to connect along rewiring something for the bypass. He didnt install the optional bluetooth adapter and he basically made me treat him out to eat. I think I did plenty and I dont think you should be talkin Max-bum lol.

oh yea here a link that helped me out
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...t=pioneer+avic

You can go to the Avic forums, they have better pictures. Rewiring the mute wire is easy, wiretaps I had some trouble with because I never wiretapped anything in my life until recent. Wiretaps can be bought at radio shack for a couple of bucks. Dont pay to get it installed, ask someone from a scion club to help you.
