Default Installing Shift boot

Im going to install my new shift boots from redline and have a quick question for the people who have already done it.

Howd you go about attaching to the boot for the shifter? the old boot is stapled to the template...whats the best way to remove the old boot and install the new one?

I'm watching this thread; a week or so ago when I was working under the headunit and had the center waterfall off, I took a look at the bracket for the stock shift boot. It looked almost like I could straighten out the staples, then put the new ones in, but I'm a little apprehensive about doing it that way.
