Default Interior Suede Panels

Hi all, is there a DIY for how to swap the stock material on the interior panels to suede or some other material?

To do the interior first need to know what panels you want to do,of course the front pillars, the seatbelt pillar and the rear pillar behind the window, the headliner, hatch trim, and did you want to do the large piece on the hatch as well.

To do all of this it takes at least 6-7 yards and that is if you do not screw up any pieces.

You will need the suede to be at least 54"wide,but let me tell you that is leavin no room for error to do the headliner,I got mine at 58"wide and even it was close.

To do the door and rear panels it takes 2-3 yards more material.

Also count on using at least 8 cans of spray adhesive,3M 90 works great, but there is also panel adhesive that can be gotten online that works better.

You want to use micro suede not alova suede as that stuff does not work well and is cheap feeling.

The worst part is having to take the rear seats out, wait for a warm day to do it,it was snowing when I started and it took forever to get it all out, plan on a week at least with everything out and sitting in your house, and bits of suede everywhere......lol

it takes a lot of time! One tip, if you get a stretchy micro suede, DON'T stretch it whenever possible. After it drys, it will pull away from the curve and then you will need to redo it.

Yeah it does have it's advantages but you should only stretch it a tiny bit and only where you need to.

I used this DIY:

http://clubsciontc.com/forums/diy-in...dhesive-11590/

My suede didn't stretch at all (ultra-suede), but for the door panels don't worry about it. All you need to do is smooth the fabric. Cut flaps to glue behind the panel, it was easy!
