Default Intro and Ipod Head Unit Question

Hi All,

New to the forum. Hello! Girlfriend has a 2007 Tc. White with the pedestal spoiler. I tried searching and looked through a multitude of threads, but couldn't find what I was looking for. Sorry if this has been covered.

She has the base Head Unit in her car. I'd like to buy her the Ipod compatible head unit. I've gathered that the head unit itself is pretty plug and play. Should be able to do it myself with basic car stereo knowledge.....right?

My question pertains to the ipod connection in the armrest console. It doesn't currently exist. IIRC, there is the Auxillary conecction and 12 volt connection, but no I pod connection. How is that installed? Is the a knockout in the plastic? Do I have to run a wire from the head unit to the console?

I can't look at her car right now because it unfortunately looks like this.....

F-150 v. Scion v. Element

Anyhow, thanks for any help with the Ipod questions!!

yes, it is very easy to install. the blank connection spot in the armrest is where the ipod connection will go. you dont need to run wires from the headunit itself, there should be a dead plug right now kinda by the handbrake under your cupholders. the ipod connection connects to that and goes to your armrest. from there, there is another cable which actually connects to your ipod. let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks a lot. Just so I'm clear, I'll have to run a cable from the "dead" connection under the handbreak/cup holder area to the armrest console AND there will be a seperate wire to plug the Ipod in.

So, if I were to buy the Ipod head unit on ebay, I'll probably need to buy both cables from the dealer. Assuming the person selling the headunit is keeping the Ipod connector and isn't going to pull the console apart to get the othe cable out.

Thanks again!

sorry to hear about your gfs car.. if you look on the personal party classifieds on the forum you might be able to find an ipod head unit there. its alot more personal where you can talk to the seller, imo better than ebay.

yes, you are correct and hopefully the person you are buying from would supply the cables. if not, you should take it out for him since its really easy. you just take off the shifter surround and then the cupholders. from there, you unplug the connector and take that out. then take out the cable inside the armrest.

Thanks to both of you. I'll check the classifieds here.
