Default iPad Mini Install..

Has anyone attempted to use an iPad Mini as the head unit in their tC? I'm working on doing mine and was just wondering if anyone else has already done it. Just to see how they mounted the pad and what not.

If not ill make sure to post pictures of the build.

So far I ordered an Istreamer 12 volt and an Audison Bit Ten D.

Been wanting to do the same n I have watched a lot of the soundman car audio series on YouTube as I'm sure you have too. From you posting about getting a istreamer and the Audison sound processor.
But there was one guy on here who did an iPad install and bought the istreamer but used a different equalizer but anyways here a video of his setup I found on YouTube. he has a thread on here somewhere.

Ipad Mini is my head unit; runs lightning connector into the Istreamer; then from there RCA to my Bit Ten; then out 4 channel to my amplifier; and 1 channel to my sub amplifier.

Hi, did the iPad Mini fit perfectly in the standard head unit or did you need to make some adjustments?

I had to cut roughly about an inch out of the top only; using a router.

Looks good man. I have done three ipads in customers cars (all mini's) none of them in a tC. A few questions, how did you mount yours? Can you pull it out pretty easy or is it fixed there?
How do you like the bit ten? I have been using the JBL Ms-8 works pretty well and its a little cheaper then the Bit Ten, but I am dieing to work with the bit ten as soon as i can get a customer to buy one.

Basically removed the door for the radio; laid the iPad in there and it only needed about a 1/2 an inch off the top for it to slide right in; so cut that out with a Dremel Tool and a very careful hand lol. Once the iPad could fit into the opening; it actually fit kinda tight which worked in my advantage; after that flipped the entire piece over with the iPad in it; and used JB Weld plastic epoxy putty and covered the entire back; over the iPad and the sides of the radio plastic; this created a tight bond and it holds the iPad from falling back; I covered the iPad with blue tape first so I didn't get epoxy on it; after the epoxy cured I popped the iPad out and took off the tape.

Now I'm left with basically a pan for my iPad; It pops right in and is pressure fit; I've had it installed for a couple weeks now and it has not come out yet; however if it does I will probably use some sealant to attached the iPad to the epoxy for a more permanent hold. I wanted the iPad to be a fixed install to where I can't remove it. I have no need to remove it and I like that its wired to the Istreamer and all times. I use Wifi sync and send all my music to it from my laptop when my cars parked out front. Another neat thing I found is the smart cover will still lay over the iPad to act as a cover; in case your parking somewhere that you don't feel safe with an iPad as a head unit lol.

As for the Bit Ten I couldn't recommend it enough; It makes the system sound so much cleaner and the computer program is really nice for changing crossover points and setting the EQ for the system. I will be installing a bit processor in my vehicles from now on!

That's awesome. I am in the brainstorm process to try to figure out what i want to do with the iPad mini in my car. I was thinking of a way to make it flip up like the cover does now.( not very easy....) bit/sound processors are awesome man. I try to use them when ever I build a system for my cars. Looks good man keep up the good work!
