I got the iPhone on friday. I thought it was not going to work with the HU. However it works. Once is connected an error comes up on the phone asking you if you want to put the phone in a airplane mode, becuase the phone is not compatible with the "acessory item" once you clear that up, you are able to look at the playlist, songs, authors. Etc.

When someone calls you the music fades and you hear the ringtone in your speakers. Once you hang up, the music fades back in.

Just wanted to share my expirience if someone is worried like i was at first.

 

That's kinda cool that it still works. I read something about the airplane error the other day. Just some "accessory detection" system they have.

Its the factory head unit not an aftermarket

 

that is sweet! how you like that phone i wouldn't get it just cause its first generation...

 

i love the phone, its awesome. but the reception sucks. not good . i swtiched over from sprint. the only thing i dont like about the phone its that java/flash are not supported. Besides that I LOVE IT !

 

Are you sure its the reception? Considering you haven't used ATT before, it's more likely ATT just isn't that strong in your area.

 

iPhone looks damn cool. Would get one but im pickin up a Palm Treo 680 soon instead.

 

that is pretty sick.. idk anyone with at&t around here so i doubt service is any good here... everyone has sprint, verizon, and tmobile around here.

 

down here where i live, cingular/att are the best, sprint and tmobile are the worst.

i played with the iphone yesterday at the apple store and didnt like it. the features and the phone itself are awesome, but the keys are to small, especially on the map feature, its really hard for me to dial anything becuase i have big fingers.

 

hopefully after march08 when my contract ends with Sprint, Apple will have fixed all the little problems and they come out with v2. If so ill switch companies.

 

i've been an apple guy all my life, and i dig iphone so bad, but decided this is not the right time for me. i'll guess i'll wait about an year until they release revision model with g3 network. anyway big props and envies to interianoh.

 

^^ im actually a NEW Apple owner since about 3 weeks ago when i got my first Mac computer which is the MacMini. In sooooo much love! I will always be an Apple guy now!

 

greetings to fellow macuser Yanki01. congrats for your macmini, i'm using macmini(intel) as well atm. with the hardware price nearly equal to that of pc, it's realy hard to resist using mac now. wonder why macusers always get bashed by pcusers.

 

Overall the design its pretty good, I've been using mac ever since i was in Elementary school. So far, never gotten a virus (that i remember of) but the phone is practically almost the same concept of the computer such as the software,; very easy to use.

x2 on that here... I think there was too much hype on it, and the fact that it doesn't do somethings that other phones in its price range can do kinda makes me shy away from it. I already have a 60gb ipod so I dont need the phone really. I'm going with a Blackberry probably come here in Sept when my current contract is up.

 

People just love gadgets to look cool. Sure its got a pretty UI. Thats cool that you can litterly flip through menu's and resize pictures with your fingers but who honestly needs that for that much money?

 

The iPhone is cool, i will say that. But most people wont get it. Its a 600 dollar phone, if the price would come down and it went multi-carrier, a ton of people would buy it. Its just not powerful enough to put a dent in the Treo market, which is its main competitor in my mind. Because people that use Treos, like myself, arent really going to jump on another 600 dollar phone, when they already have one. Plus, the iPhone currently cant have third party applications developed for it, only web-based, which sucks, and also let down a ton of developers. Plus, it doesn't have GPS, and AT&T's network cant even handle it. But in the end, it is a cool peice of technology, and to each his own, but no thing and no one is getting in the way of my Treo 700p.

Wait around the second or third gen of the iPhone...it might be worth it
