Default ipod harness (again)

Ok, I know this has been brought up a million times, but I am working on making an adaptor so non-06 cars can use the ipod connection on the upgraded radio.

I have found the company that makes the wiring harness connectors for Toyota/Scion. I just need the part number off the harness connector that plugs into the back of the upgrade radio (its a 16 pin connector wrapped in gray foam behind the stock radio or the bottom-most plug connected to the upgraded radio).

Anybody with an 06 feeling like helping out? I believe you should see an HRS symbol which will be followed by the part number (probably starting with "GT").

Thanks in advance.

Honestly, search eBay for the ipod2car adapter.

It's what I have in my car and total spent out the door w/ the adapter and both harnesses was under $120...

I have it snaked down under the console and out thru the e-brake to a Belkin iPod holder in the cup holder.

The ipod2car adapter can be controlled at the 05 HU...not sure about the 06 yet...it also charges the iPod as it's playing...definitely the best thing aside from the factory integration you can get...

Hey rjj130:

You wrote that you can control your Ipod via the head unit. How much control? Can you scroll though and select a playlist?, see the song titles, etc?

I have the standard HU (non 6 disc) on my 05 tC. Is this the HU you have?

Thanks.

I also am looking for the part number of the harness.
I would settle for the connector and contact pins numbers.
There seems to be a lot of people looking for the solution to this problem.
Any information would be helpful.

I have an 06 with ipod compatibility. I see the HRS symbol on it but no part number. Part number was probably in the piece of paper with the bag the harness came with but I cant find it

No essentially all you can do is toggle between songs in the playlist.

I would go insane trying to play w/ my iPod on the tC's HU...just my opinion.

I recently added a Belkin iPod cupholder so I can easily control the iPod w/out taking my eyes off the road too long, or I can just take it out of the cupholder and do what I need.

I just recently came up with a 'Car Tunes' playlist...it's cool for what I need.

I'll get pictures of the new Belkin cupholder up in my tutorial eventually...

^^^ You can all just use the AUX jack for the '06 and use the iPod as normal...
Using the buttons on the HU can be a pain at times, but it does kick ****.

Anyone with an 06, no matter what radio you have, willing to just take a picture of the connector that is built in? ive got a pic of the side that plugs into the radio, anyone willing to take a pic of the other side of that same connector?(it should be located near the shifter soemwhere, and is just sitting unused if you do not have the ipod hu)
It would be awsome to get this hooked up and I could make a write up for everyone else.

I've noticed there hasn't been any posts in this thread for a long while.

Does anyone have a part number for this part, some pics of the part, or a place where I can buy this part?

If any of you have a 2006 tC and are willing to part w/ your console to radio wire, please contact me. I have the 2006 radio and no wire!

Thanks

There is no Aux plug on the HU - it's part of the harness, and ends in the console.

Using the HU to 'toggle' between songs/playlists sucks, esp when you're driving. The toggle is finicky and won't change selections sometimes or go past your selection. This also made it difficult to choose the genres in XM radio. I'm giving up and putting in an Eclipse CD5000.
