im planning on buying an ipod nano soon, and i think the ipod head unit would be an awesome addition to my car. will there be any fitment or installation problems putting it into an 05 model? i see that it connects in the armrest; is that something easilly installed? can it be done at a dealership? if so, about how much money would it be? thank you for any info!

i called the dealership and they said its a no-go for 05's because they lack some of the hardware wiring hook ups that the 06 has....

 

Just get an aftermarket HU that has ipod capability. Probably cheaper too.

 

definitely just get a new head unit. I thought for a long time of every possibility of how to attach my ipod and finally just decided to get a new head unit. If money is a problem get one with and AUX input on the front for cheaper, but if you have some money to spend you can get an ipod adapter that allows you to display song info on your new headunit. It was easy to install and i really had never dont anything like it before. I'd be happy to show you some links or answer any questions you have, i remember how hard it was to find information when i was on the ipod hunt.

 

there is a kit thing for sale at a local best buy as an adapter for lexus/toyota/scion for full ipod integration. but the thing was like 200$, and was JUST the kit (not a head unit or anything). two questions about that, first, will this kit work for any head unit, or only the factory ones? and second, what, if any, are the aftermarket head units that offer full integration (volume, track selection, text display, etc)? AUX input would be a last resort, because i dont want to have to look down and fiddle with my ipod controls while driving. so yeah, any links for stuff like that would be cool, and thank you!
