Default head unit swap

I love the stereo in my xb but I need to be able to hard wire my ipod-

*note to scion: INSTALL AN AUX-in JACK IN YOUR STEREOS!!! ... line out as well...

I cant beleive in this day and age that a car as youth culture friendly as the xb doesnt allow much flexibility with its stereo system. So, I am swapping the head unit out just so I can use my ipod. (I have not heard good things about the fm transmitters for ipods, so I wont go that route.)

Can you do an even trade or are there amps hidden somewhere in the dash or elswhere? It seems as though there is more power up front than in back, is there an imbalance of power delivery that needs addressing?

Does anyone know whether I can get around having to remove the factory head unit?

best thing to do is swapp out the head unit, i had hooked up 3 pac inline converters to install a 6 channel d class amp, to run, 2 way 4" for the dash, 3 way 6.5" doors, and 3- way 5.25 in the rear and a 12 inch sub. The stock head unit was alright at first good bass, and highs, mp-3's maxed out at 50. Other than depressing the SSP, button for a few seconds to adjust xa to xb, ( xa sounding cleanest ) not much bang for my set up. the rear has smaller speakers and sucks, definitely needs help.
I have hooked up 1 din eclipse head unit with moniter, has capabilites to hook up the ipod, and 3 other accesorries. to fill the space installed a dvd-mp3 drive. I used the stock mounting brackets from the head unit. the sound is sweet, and the movies are nice in traffic.

circuit city, best buy and a few of the larger electronic stores now carry FM modulators. They plug into earphone jacks on mp3 playes, portable cd players, laptops. . .anything with an earphone jack and transmits it to a preset radio station then plays through your car's stereo. I found these a while back and use it on my mp3 player in other cars and it works great!! you might try a search online too? let me know if it works out, thats probably your most cost effective way of getting around that for less then $30 bucks. peace!

I would stay away from wireless FM Modulators...we sell them in my shop and after a week it gets returned because they say it loses signal once in awhile and annoys the hell out of them. I would just cough up the extra $10 to have a wired FM Modulator. Or you can just replace your head unit with an AUX in...your cleanest option for your iPod.

Hope this helps.

sounds like my option of choice. Thanks for the 4eleven. Does it cancel noise from whichever station you set it at? Know a good brand I should look into?
