jl audio 12w4anybody have a set of these subs? how do they sound? what is powering them? what enclosure? .............my buddy needs $ so i thought i check with u guys before jumping on them

 

I don't have 12w4, but I have a pair of 10w3s and I love them.

The 12w4 is a discountinued subwoofer, but if you're money is tight and your buddy can be trusted, then I'd say give it a try and upgrade later when you're ready.

the W4's I feel were one of the best series JL ever made... thats just my $.02 though I would look closely at the sub though, as I think they stopped making these sometime in the 90's.

 

^ Totally agree. If there's no damage & the price is right, it's a great sub.

 

and to add.... if they are in good condition.... they don't take a ton of power to make them sound nice. I had to of them running off a crossfire CFA-602 back in the day, about 600 watts to the pair......
