Thats a good question.. I have another if you put a 7" flip up monitor in the dash will the cargo door still close and more importantly will a 7" flip up fit with the door open and the monitor out??

i have seen the KD-AVX1 in a tC.. the cover will close if you remove the faceplate.

as for a flip-out.. it's not gonna work.. i have one (avic-n1) and had to rip off the cover... i had drilled the brackets to move the unit back intially to have the cover close, but then the angle of the flip-out when open... yeah.. got in the way..

it's one or the other basically... have unit open ok, but no cover closing; or have cover close, but flip-out gets in way with cover.

actually... you might be able to mount it at the same place... have the flip out open fine, but you would have to remove the faceplate... actually.. no.. that won't work... i dunno....

i may actually be getting this very soon, i'll post pics if i do. did you want to put in a larger, flip-up DVD monitor in addition to this head unit? i don't know if that would work.. plus.. that's kinda the point of buying this unit is that it there's a screen built in to it.

i dunno i might just be misunderstanding what you're asking.

I have the kd-avx1 installed in my tc. Fits greats. and the door will close....its a close fit though. Ill try to take some pics (if i can find my digicam charger cable). But ya the door will close with faceplate on without any problem.

the lid closed on mine with an inch to spare. I used the #1 screw hole on the unit and all I had to do was make a housing for it.
