Default Kenwood DNX8120 Installation

Hi everyone,

Last night I ordered this unit brand new from an online retailer. Needless to say I am thrilled with anticipation! I have a few questions and I would search but I am currently on my Blackberry and without an actual computer web browser so if you all would be kind enough to answer a few basic questions that I have I would REALLY appreciate it.

1) I am at work and I would like to go to best buy on my lunch break to get all of the necessary installation accessories...(I.e. Mounting kit, wiring harness, etc...) Which items should I purchase?

2) I've been reading that it is difficult to get a Blackberry to sync automatically via Bluetooth for one reason or another. Is there a known fix for this yet? Maybe a certain configuration that is needed for either the deck or the phone itself?

3) Is there anything else I should know about this unit prior to installation or after? Any tips or tricks?

Thanks a ton in advance guys I really appreciate the openess to help people with things that this forum provides.

you need the double din mounting brackets, they are plastic little pieces 4" by mabe 1/2"(two come in one package) you need the wire harness(agian is 2 pieces)
and what ever else you want, ipod adapter,xm,sirus,hd radio

*Search and Review threads of installs of people who put in Pioneer AVIC-D3 (seems like it was the most popular) because alot of people have practically laid out the entire process step-by-step.

The harderst problems I had w/ my '05 nav install is finding the speed, dimmer, and reverse wires but if you look in those threads good you can find out which wires you specifically need.

I mounted my gps reciever in the passanger side pillar - others have mounted theres in various other places including on top of the unit itself or even in the sunroof track but wherever you choose just make sure you're getting good reception before putting everything back and I'd recommend a stealth place for install as it keeps the car looking clean from the outside and won't draw the wrong kind of attention from people who will then know you have a gps system.

Also, don't know if you are aware but you might have to drill the radio mounting brackets back some in order for your system to sit flush and the radio door to close.

I mounted my DNX7100 GPS antenna right above the center air vent. There's an indentation that holds it right there. Also wrapped it in foam so it would sit tight. Don't forget to include the metal back plate.

If you don't already have zip ties you're gonna need a bunch to keep all your excess wiring neat.

No reception problems. Only time I noticed it drop slightly was with my Pioneer D3 going through financial district where there's lots of tall buildings.
