Light Up Door Sills part 2

wow... why is it that one day I'm receiving email notifications of new posts like I"m supposed to, and then the next I'm not? I suddenly remembered about this thread today and came back to check up, only to realize an entire page and a half of posts have been made but I haven't gotten a single email! and this is by no means the first time I've had this problem. it's soooo annoying.
anyway, I can't wait to see these things. I'll be sure to check back manually if things get too quiet again.

I always follow the link when I get the emails. especially this thread, because I'm waiting so anxiously to see the revision! that's what's strange. I was actually wondering if maybe it stops emailing you if you go for too long without posting to the thread.

im 100% sure there are either glitches or some type of silent mod function that drops people off the list on some posts because it has happened to me. 90%+ it doesnt happen but it does happen sometimes.
strangely, it seems to be happening more and more often lately. one serious thought I had is that maybe it only tracks so many topics for you at a time, so maybe us post ****** start losing out on notifications as a result. hmmm
so how about an update on the sills? what's the good news, Ninja?

imo, they could look better. too many lines on the sides. i agree with the others about the font and that they should be clear until lit up. i know you can't do the tC font because it's a logo, but really, without that it just looks cheap.
can i offer a suggestion on what might sell really well?
Follow the way Scion did the interior LED enhancement..they sold it as a kit that could be installed in about an hour with nothing more than a drill...ok so you needed a riveter too. but here is the suggestion...
a "tc Door Sill Enhancement Enhancement"
the Door Sills from lund have a raised tC and 4 dimples on the left and 4 on the right. You provide the lights in a harness for the dimples and the letters. Then you supply little clear/smokey acrylic caps for the top of the dimples and a "T" and a "C" separately (i'm no lawyer..but perhaps the way around this logo thing is to provide two separate letters rather than the phrase tC).
Ok, so you wire that up in two harnesses and provide me a single sheet of instructions to drill the dimple holes and drill/dremel whatever you need me to do for the letters. The caps should either screw to the light below like the LED cupholders, or make me do a little clear glue or hot glue gun...whatever, you tell me what to do for a clean install. You provide T-Taps too and tell me what to tap so they just light up when I open the door.
Done deal, and you only have to fabricate little acrylic covers (i am sure i am oversimplifying but it has to be easier than fabrication of an entire sill). But take a look at the LED enhancement ... that's how they did it with the cupholder lights, and even a dope like me was able to install it in a morning.
Figure people can get the aluminum Lund sills for about $60 on the net..and say you charge..i don't know $40 for the kit? Good for folks who want the lights, and good for folks who already spent the dough on the lund sills and want to upgrade without buying a whole new set of sills. Easier for you too to swap out light colors in a kit and meet the various color needs of folks here.
there, now go make a million bucks.
here is what it should look like when done (without the Z of course):

did you even read the thread? everything you mentioned is already being revised (except for the stupid DIY hack job part). there won't be so many lines. it will be clear until lit up. and the tC logo can and will be done. as for whatever that mess of thoughts were, regarding cutting and hacking and whatnot, that's overkill. you couldn't possibly expect even most people to cut out the dots and lettering accurately enough to make it look clean. selling complete sills is by far the simplest way to go. as for those who already bought the door sills? sell em on eBay!
yeah i read the thread. and the one before it, and the one before that, and the original thread from months ago.
this forum is full of DIY jobs so i see no problem with another. and regardless of what you say and an ebay entrepreneur...the tC logo cannot be done without Toyota's consent. and i have yet to see a picture of that logo on any of these pages.
Scions interior LED enhancement looks clean to me. If that's what you consider a hack job, and is too much DIY for you then so be it. Further the desginer asked for opinions so I offered my own. I think the lines don't look sophisticated, and the product could be improved upon.
really. get off your effin high horse. there's no reason to respond that way to a friendly suggestion.

eh, let me apologize, jet. had a rough day and felt like stirring up the pot a bit since this topic has been slow lately. I guess I wasn't trying to come across so mean though.
there aren't more pics yet because we're still waiting on the revised sills. personally, I don't care if we're allowed to use the tC or not, but Ninja says he did so as long as I get a pair before he gets shut down, that just makes my car more unique!
no, the interior LED enhancement is clean, but I was saying that trying to dremmel out parts of the Lund sills just right to insert any sort of pieces would be hard to accomplish cleanly for most people.
the way Ninja describes the new sills, or the way I am imagining them at least, I think they're gonna be right on target (so don't let me down, Ninja! I'm counting on you!

They look like a step up from the lame IMO door sills that come with all the tC's, but the RS 1.0 door sills are fine the way they are and I don't feel the need to change mine just yet.... Unless you come up w/ a RS 1.0 LED door still product as well.
